That reeks of final paycheck syndrome. He will not take kindly to being rotated out of the squad either. Unlikely to happen IMO.

Wouldn't take him personally, but he's better than all our current CM's at the moment. Like Sam says though, 33 with no longevity and would demand to much in wages.

Think he'd be an absolutely outstanding signing. A guy who is performing well playing week in week out for one of the top clubs in the country? Be mad not to.

However all I can say is <laugh><laugh><laugh> Yaya wanting to join Newcastle <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Meanwhile back on planet earth...

As I recall, in 2003-4 Patrick Kluivert was performing fairly well week in week out for Barcelona. Then look what happened.

I don't see signing Yaya as that farfetched really

Yaya turned down big money from China, so It's clear it's not completely down to finances. He still wants to be at Man City but they cannot guarantee regular football, so he wants to play another year or two in the big league, who else is interested, Stoke & Palace. Well if that's his choice he could well chose Newcastle after having a chat with Rafa, but it would all be dependant on, would we play he a lot and would we pay him a lot.

His age is an issue, but Yaya's always been athletic and never the paciest, he just moves quickly with the ball. Would be useful for set pieces and usually dictates play from the middle. But he would have to be in a CAM role, because of his laziness, when losing possession up-field, Yaya is one of the last to chase back

This. FFS the guy will get offers from all over the place and on far greater wages than we'd ever offer. Non story.

Not going to happen, for a start Mike isn't going to pay those wages for a 35 year old, don't think Charley would dare try and push that one. Wouldn't want to come either, so many clubs with European football he could go to before us
If he does come we better get him a ****ing birthday cake. Mrs. Benitez needs to be brushing up on her baking skills

What if Charnley made Yaya's incomings more tax efficient?
