You are so last year I think we paid £30m for Ferdinand 10 years ago, get with the times for talent boy
10 years ago is a long time. You will always be also ran's with the mentality of "that's too much", if a player is right for the team and what you need you pay the price.
Luiz was 50 to psg.... The bonucci quotes are higher. If you want to buy a top prem performer then... well you pay
Van dijk would be perfect for u as imo. Ideal lcb with matip. Height, pace, skill, can read play... like I dunno what the fuss is. It's only the cost of the new training ground or 80% of a new stand.
Yep, you buy what you need. £30m for Ferdi seemed mental money, Vidic was a **** lot cheaper, both of them more than proved their worth to the club over the years. Price is nothing, impact is everything in football. VvD is a superb player and would make a very good midfielder too.
Great only cos he suited each manager at time. Suited mourinho to sell. Suited contest plan to buy. Result was titles each way. And player wins each time too. Van dijk has everything klopp needs but a cheap price. Unfortunately the reality check is chelsea need an lcb to replace Cahill and van dijk will go there.
10 years is a long time but apart from Luiz and Stones who were both massively overvalued, no defender has cost anything more than £30m
I'm not saying VVD isn't brilliant player and I'd take him in heartbeat. Bit £50m and all that pressure? Who knows how he'd cope. Obviously a risk, and if we got him certainly wouldn't complain. But if it meant we didn't improve the squad in other areas like LB, CM and CF then I'd be disappointed.
