Whoever writes the Timeform comments in the Newbury racecards probably will not be wanted to be reminded of this priceless assessment of one of the runners in the 4:45 on Saturday: “Well held both starts in maidens this year and of little interest in this field.”

When Rod Millman wakes up this morning after celebrating the 100/1 success of Duke Of Bronte, he may not recognise his surroundings. He will knock on the door and the guy in the funny costume will tell him it is the Tower of London.

Her Majesty won the first division of the maiden race with favourite Call To Mind in the hands of Ryan Moore. In the second division, Her Majesty’s Musical Terms stayed on late to catch favourite Dhalam in the shadow of the post but unfortunately Millman’s gelding was still two lengths ahead. The Queen dutifully visited her horse in the second place enclosure to hear the lowdown from Moore whilst keeping her back to the winner’s enclosure.

Yeah, he should have been wiser and said "unfancied first two starts, beaten 17.26 lengths and 12.5 lengths, will take all the beating on current form" <yikes> silly him eh!

The point I was making is that usually in the racecard notes they try to be positive (if pragmatic) – even about the no-hopers – and put something like “a little out of his depth here”.

Timeform is a service and they have to say it how they see it. Unlike the racecourse who can be more diplomatic

How can you explain an 11 day turnaround of that nature...it's a remarkable contrast. Trainer and connections mustn't have expected it either as the SP suggests.
 
Looks like Nicholls is trying to monopolise the prize money at Wincanton this afternoon though another £35k in the pot is hardly likely to stir Hendo from his afternoon slumber. Lazy bet, Nicholls in four folds and five folds at Wincanton.

Quite, I guess that these are young and inexperienced horses, perhaps the lightbulb just flicked on! It's why I find flat racing really difficult
 
Navan 3.25-Psychedelic Funk ran in some decent races last season including finishing third in the Coventry Stakes. Trainer and jockey are in sh!t hot form and if turned out fully fit he will be tough to beat. Win bet 3/1

The Last Bridge and Monfass two singles and a double. Both have form in book and both look perfect for big runs.
