Nice bloke but too old now, unless he sort of does the job that Howard did for the Turdies. Eventually it should/will be Jarvis, but in 10 years time it's hard to envisage Labour as the principle opposition, especially if Scotland goes or keeps electing Nats.

And only 15 years ago there was talk of Turdies splitting into left and right after the IDS putsch. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I know. So he won't be Labour leader for at least five years.

does anyone else think the french elsection shows what a person could have done after brexit... set up a new party and exploit the seemingly total disregard politicians have for the public.

this guy in france has had some luck after the other guy was basically a clinton and unelectable... now he is up against le pen and she is un-electable.

If someone split out of labour and formed own party 12 months ago do you think they could go well in this election?

    No
a year isn't enough to set up a party organisation and you would just cause further fragmentation in the left leaning vote.

The guy in France has not set up a party. He has just run for President, they have a weird set up over their which puts a lot of power in the President's hands. It will be interesting to see how he gets on as he should annihilate Le Pen in the final vote.

I would add to that Garlic that politicians who were massively pro-EU should have dumped their parties and set up a new centre-right party to attract the Conservative voter but also the more liberal minded guys. The UK Conservative Party is really UKIP in reality, Someone even compared Tory policies with the BNP election manifesto of 2005 and found not a lot of difference. My heart is heavy for the future of British politics and how we long for PM as brilliant as Harold Wilson. Best PM ever.
