It's a step up from Burnley but I even said he'll be going even higher so hardly worthy of a WUM response is it
Not sure any young player will relish playing under Mourhino. Mainly due to the fact that they don't tend to play. Would love to see him at Spurs, but he'd have to content himself to playing as back-up, and I could understand that that might not appeal to him.
I don't really see Leicester as that much of a step up from Burnley, tbh. That's the issue I have with your previous comment.
We put in two or three bids for him in the summer - last one was £15m or higher as I recall - but Burnley stood firm ... we had him on loan back in our Championship days and he was always quite good - he's now he's filled out and I thought he acquitted himself admirably in the recent internationals ..
Never expected that we'd get him, anyway. Still, it's good to know that neither will Arsenal nor Chelsea.
Don't see him at one of the bigger clubs to be honest. As good as he's been he's still not that level yet. Look at how easily Lukaku turned him last weekend. You get away with that when you're 18/19. Not when you're a full international and you're 24. I can see him at Spurs or Everton.
We don't need him. We have two of the best CB's in the PL. And probably in Europe. Both Vertonghen and Alderweireld are far superior.
I read this morning that Alderweireld has a 24m release clause and he's refusing to sign a new contract, any truth in that NSIS? Can see the big clubs wanting him for that price.
No idea if there's any truth to it, tbh. There's always speculation in the red tops. He's under contract until 2020. And so called 'big clubs' are supposedly after virtually all our players,
If he's not that good, then he's not going to get into the best defence in the country, is he? You've conceded about 250% of our goal tally, for example. I think he's better than you give him credit for, though. City, Everton or possibly Saints, as an outside shot, especially if van Dijk moves on, which looks likely.
Always speculation unless it's Leicester where there's genuinely a 1p and a fredo bar release clause in there due to our idiot director of football
