There were a few good deals to be had in January and truth be told, we should have bought someone. Gabbiadini was a good buy and would have been good for us.....even a cheeky bid for Mahrez, who is now performing perhaps? It's all hindsight now so easy for me to say. I totally agree with you though, don't dick about.....don't quibble over the odd few million, if Klopp wants them, buy them and do it early. Have to say, that while my confidence in Klopp's eye for a player has not wavered, my confidence in the club to deliver his needs is low. Unfortunately we are not in the same league as other clubs when it comes to the execution of recruitment...I'm not talking about size of transfers, just getting the job done. Not long to wait now. If we secure CL, we'd better up our game.
Gerard in making JR: Liverpool are unbeaten in the league this season whenever Matip and Lovren have started together. They're clearly Klopp's first choice pairing and have the makings of a very solid partnership, as their qualities complement each other well. However, this season has shown how Klopp cannot build a consistent defence around that partnership as both players are prone to missing significant chunks of the season through injury. You ideally want your centre back pairing to be playing 30+ league games together every season as you can't be chopping and changing all the time. Both players are certainly good enough, and Matip has been mostly superb since joining last summer- he looks like a £30 million defender, so getting him on a free transfer was top business.
He wants to play in a deeper role....due to form and injuries he's not done that....I think that we should offer him the chance.....the last few games has shown us how good he can be. If Lallana comes back, he'll replace Lucas and he'll do well......but what about when Henderson is fit!? It's then Hendo v Can. Tough choice!
Yeah they've both been OK but trying to be the best means there has to be better out there. In fact Lucas actually has proved that a tiny bit cos we look better then the holding midfield actually holds
I'm keen to know which player(s) will come from our feeder club: VvD is a bit of a long shot into Bertrand would help out our FB situation; should have bought him in the first place Gabbiadini looks useful Or maybe we should just buy their entire recruitment team
Gambia does looks like he knows how to play upfront right enough. Doesn't look physical enough for me but prob will score lots.
It's a very disciplined role for sure, maybe Klopp doesn't see that in Can. Lucas is ok until he comes up against pace these days.....Keep Can or sell him, we need another specialist for that role regardless. Personally, I think that he's really stepped up and that he needs to trust Klopp with his progress!
He provided the assist for the goal on Sunday and had to bust a ****ing lung to get there. Give the lad a break
Emre Can is quality. Far too many were on his back when he struggled despite playing through injury. Clearly shown he can play different roles. Hendo vs Can isn't even a debate.
I do not think it's right for any player to dictate where he wants to play. Players must play as a member of the team. That is the main problem of Daniel Sturridge, he wants to play in the central. Every one knows that it's easier to score goals in the central. Players must be flexible.
Horses for courses. Against WBA where Lucas didn't need to run and could just sit back and win headers when played forward was fine. No ones saying he should be kept as first team regular but I'd feel more comfortable bringing him on to protect a lead than any other midfielder in our team. We need a new midfielder that's more defensively minded but it's a squad game and not everyone in squad can be a superstar. You need a few solid no nonsence players.
I hear that Cleverly is a great runner.... might want to consider investing in him.... or failing that you could always move milner back there he runs a lot
