I really don't believe any player is stupid enough to sign 4 or 5 years of his life away on the strength of getting 6 CL group stage games in the first year.
When players say they want to sign for a CL club they are thinking Barca, Madrid, Bayern, PSG, Arsenal (so far). Teams that can more or less guarantee them 4 or 5 years of CL football. Other than that it's just a good excuse to get out of where they are.

Where does that leave someone like Pogba or Ibrahimovic then, if you fail to win the Europa league? Are they happy to be without it for at least another year

agreed
though at those clubs you will also be guaranteed a big wage. Making CL one year means nothing - see our transfers in 14/15

Yep, all this talk (from all teams supporters) of needing CL to attract better players is correct, the only thing is you need it 3,4 or 5 years on the trot for it to have any influence on a top players decision.

What about Arsenal then. Continuous qualification, but a complete failure in the actual thing. How does a top player look at that? Seeing as the likes of Sanchez and Ozil have clearly had enough. Despite constant qualification, I think they look quite unattractive.

Winning it is a bonus, not many teams do that bit on a regular basis. The attraction is playing in it year after year against the best teams and players. Qualifying for it every year at least gives you the chance/hope of winning it, qualifying for it once every now and then just gives you some hope of saying you have played in it.

Disagree. You have to be in a top league too, pay well and actually have a chance of winning the thing. Top players don't flock to Porto, some are made there though.

Actually Porto and Portugal in general is very attractive to rising Brazilian (and South American) players, due to similar cultures and easy work visas.

What Roger said.
Porto being in the CL every year puts these players in the shop window for bigger clubs on a regular basis.

Yup. Nobody gives a stuff about playing for the **** teams in the groups do they.

They mean..... i want oodles and oodles of cash and a well flash club

They must be queing up for basel and besiktas yeah?
Yep, thank you. You have just agreed with my original post that they are looking at teams like Barca, Madrid, Bayern and PSG, teams that qualify occasionally and get 6 group games just don't count <ok>

Liverpool are interested in signing Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie, according to the Ivorian's agent.
The 20-year-old has featured 25 times for the Serie A side in an impressive breakthrough season, scoring seven goals.

There is interest from a crux of Premier League clubs, but it is Roma who are leading the race, says George Antangana.
“I must admit that Roma have the advantage for Kessie, but we haven't closed a deal yet because there are other top clubs interested who continue calling me,” Atangana told Rai Sport.“There are many overseas clubs interested in him.
“Manchester City, where his friend Yaya Toure plays in the same role. Liverpool, where their manager Jurgen Klopp knows how to help young players develop. Then there's Arsenal, whose manager is very close to French-speaking players."
