Things look bleak. Very bleak. I want you guys to stay up and be competitive next year to give us a chance of some Derby revenge but just cannot see it happening. Worse than that I think it may be tough for you to come back up as long as you have that yank at the helm.

Who are you?

Never been here before.

Blah blah.

This does come across as wummery. What first tipped you off that they may be in trouble PMF?

He put us in debt of about £110m, and never spent more than peanuts on players, sold Miglonet and Henderson to Liverpool, and not one player has been signed to improve this club in god knows how many years, coupled with Borini, Jones, Larsson being crap and Moyes has been the worst manager given the amount of money which has been available and no striker brought in which was a disgrace. I am not going back (WHU h only) until massive changes are made this has gone on far too long in my memory 2003, 2006 were terrible but they have sunk back to that level, how the hell can they keep doing it ?. You already have a good manager and he will get you up to top 6 before he leaves, but be warned you need to spend big.

Top 6 is way too ambitious. Top 10 would do me just fine over a few years but the key is hanging onto Benitez. I aren't convinced that will happen.

So do you think that Sunderland will come back up next year?

Probably not. Impossible to say though. The pain could go on further tbh with the state of their finances...

If Ellis either sells up or sorts his **** out with wage bill and getting a young progressive manager in etc. then you never know. They seem to have a decent academy these days which could help them massively.

Btw you realise I'm a Saints fan right? <laugh>

How your lot ambitions have changed ;)

I actually fancy you for a top 10 finish if you spend some money and keep Rafa tbh...

With the exception of one season we've been mid-table or worse for the most of the last decade. It's regularly stated that all Newcastle fans think we should be in the Champions League each year but I'm yet to actually talk to one myself, they must all be queuing up outside the ground for the Sky cameras.

We will be of a similar quality to about 5 other teams (including the ones we came up with), a few who survive this year are nothing to be scared of but respected certainly. Anything higher than 15th will require a large outlay which is invested well combined with luck and great management. I'm not saying it's impossible, but unlikely.

Yes. Your username gives it away. Isn't your owner into big business in Switzerland, Austria or something? Red Bull?

Fair point on your first paragraph.

Also you don't really need to spend stupid amounts to do well in this league, just have to be smart, we've proved that (as did Leicester!). Maybe not in first season though. Could see it if you spent a bit though next year for sure.

Swiss construction: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebherr_Group

We're owned by our saviour Markus daughter Kat.... well for now anyway. Looks like we're up for sale with it seeming to be the Chinese who are interested... interesting times <yikes>

Edit: @Beardsley's Shimmy - Think Markus was more involved with the Mali Group rather than Liebherr itself, though it was his father Hans who founded the Liebherr Group.... I think...

I think West Ham will go in for Rafa in the summer, they'll have more money and more ambition, and won't mind paying Mike Ashley a few quid for his services.

Pardew seems the obvious replacement for him, a man who never let Mike Ashley down.
