Good against pace? Is he? I seem to remember numerous occasions against a certain Craig Mackail- Smith where Mr. Seaborne didn't know what to do with CMS running past him.

The goal which he was outpaced by was a lumping ball forward which he didn't know how to deal with. I mean if a through ball is played along the ground, he seems to be more confident with. Either way, I expect Martin to start - this is more his sort of game.

Think that is one game you are refereeing to in the season. Surely a player can't be judged on one game. Yeah agree that game he was poor.
Seaborne like several others last season did have nightmare games. Remember poor Harding one game having a mare & then being taken off the pitch,.
Trouble is, if they were perfect every game or didn't have the odd mare of a game, they would be playing in the premiership.

Same as Martin can't be judged on his 1 performance in the championship last week.

That's why Adkins will show who he prefers today. He has seen Martin performance against Leeds, knows what Jaidi has in the locker
& knows Seaborne from training pre season etc.

Of course you can't judge a player off of one game, I'm just using it as one example. It wasn't the first time he seemed nervous when somebody was running towards him, it's just a very memorable example of when it lead directly to a goal. I actually rate Seaborne a lot more than most people do (I know this sounds like the kind of "I'm not racist, I have black friends!" excuse but it's true) - I would just hardly cite "good against pace" as one of his key aspects.

He was outrun, though, the only way to deal with that is to sprint towards the ball and that's what he did.

I disagree, I think he only got outrun because he misread the flight of the ball, which as I said is his weakness.

Big step up for all 3 now in the championship. Will be a lot different from last year.
Jaidi though last season when he did get the chance to get the shirt back if he had had a spell out of the team
turned into superman. And impressed. He came good after christmas perhaps a slow starter.

i've played against Martin, we tore him and eastleigh a new one. Play high up on him and put him under pressure he doesn't know what to do. Torquay did this and he made several mistakes. Against Leedswho played one up top, he didn't have that issue, although several times he was out of position and made a couple of bad decisions that put team mates under pressure.

Have you considered the idea that maybe, Martin might have improved since he was playing for Eastleigh? As incredible at football as I'm sure you are.

I would start with Martin as well, he really impressed me against Leeds. Nunez looked a handful in the second half, but Fonte and Martin completely shut him out of the game.

The difference between professional level and where I was isn't that big a gap. He obviously has improved but he is still suspect when under pressure which will cause problems for us. I don't get why everyone thinks he's so awesome. He really isn't. The sooner we get a new CB in the better.

Maybe not, and I couldn't comment in relation to League Two, but I'm sure there is a very big gap between Blue Square South and wherever you were playing, to the Championship.

What about when we played Bolton when they played two Premier League strikers up top (Davies and Klasnic)?

Adkins chooses Seaborne over Martin today.

Martin must be disappointed, 3 fit CB's this week and he gets put on the bench.

Think this will be a harder test, as Leeds not the usual Leeds last week . Barnsley will be.

Martin worked hard last week.

I was thinking that, I think Martin deserved a place, but maybe Adkins is resting him after games on Saturday and Tuesday?

Am I the only one who's not happy with the signing of Fox? I just don't think we need him.

Considering Ipswich on Tuesday is going to be a much tougher game than this afternoon's one - no disrespect to Barnsley... but I expect both Martin and Fox will start at Portman Road, a long with De Ridder perhaps and all.

although I don't think we need him, I think one of harding or dickson (most likely dickson) will depart so maybe he's being brought in to replace whoever is departing?

Exactly. It's the best squad which wins in the long run. We showed last season that we can handle 2 games a week (3 sometimes) better than anyone else in the second half of the season. Everyone in the Saints squad knows they aren't going to start every game (except maybe Lambert and Lallana).

Great game Seaborne you got the shirt ahead of Martin & did a cracking job.
Perhaps people may think twice before saying you didn't deserve the start.
In Adkins we trust. Seaborne showed what he can do in the championship.
Looking good alongside Fonte complimented one another.
