Cahill isn't that great IMO. Nothing special.

Luiz is well protected in this system and it allows him to focus on his strengths which is being aggressive and playing out from the back.

Azpi is quality and is deffo the best full back in the league (on both flanks!).

Chelsea don't really need VVD because you have two remarkable talents in Zouma and Christensen.

But that's what they did and do. Hoover up a crap load of young talent, loan them all out (ridiculous amount) as they need to play. Then they just buy other quality players with all their money and then the youngsters return from loan with absolutely no future at the club, so they get sold.

Zouma could be a quality centre back somewhere, but depends if he waits out another couple years and leaves or takes the smart decision to leave sooner. Unless they are happy to just get paid and loaned out to wherever indefinitely.

Nothing wrong with Chelsea doing that, works well for them and helped them during the FFP period.

Have te to blame the young players for going. It's like the kid at rangers that has chance to go Chelsea at the moment. 15 years old, stay at rangers and play first team football in a few years and then potentially move to English club in Prem or champ and be a regular or go Chelsea play reserves for 4/5 years, go out on loan for a couple years then get sold to another club for a few million if done half decent.

Youd think was a straight forward choice but kids don't view the next 4/5 years at that age, only the now.

15 year olds should not be worried about money. They've got nothing to spend it on.

they don't like young talent though.....

Also one thing... azpi is the best full back but not rcb. teams imo have failed to draw luiz like we did and then put the ball in on top of azpi and bascially score.

however eventually they will figure that out.

obviously nobody can load it onto cahill can they?

Luiz does come out despite what cheslea say, just watch. he can be drawn.

IMO any kid who chooses that fast buck is badly advised.

IF you are offered more than the going rate and then look as a father at the meat grinder that cheslea are and zero chance of ever making it big then you would advise them that if they are actually ANY good they will be playing for rangers in 3 years and then can think about it.

LFc are enough of a meat grinder imo... cheslea and city are RIDICULOUS.

Question: if Liverpool were to get a full transfer ban.... how would we know any difference?

Easy to say (in hindsight) if that kid makes it but how many still get thrown in the scrap heap despite promising at 15? Hell, it still happens at 23!

Once disposed of, they've got a normal working life to look forward to. Move to a big club and they'll get big money immediately and if it doesn't work out they'll still get contract offers from other teams because of the association (with said big club).

    hundred and thousands....

I get you. if they go and get 10k a week of chelsea for 2 years in theory yea htey are pretty SWEEEEET...

but.... the reality is form 15 to 17 you have to perform to get that. whatever "scholarship" you get ... well... we will see.

IMo they should use the interest to gt a good offer from home club.

you are right they can go drive a fork lift of something sure but..... they've a 10 times better chance being a pro staying in scotland IMO. cheslea buy in so many young and loan out you might not even get a game at u23 level. nor u18 level

I see where the argument is coming from with youngers moving to big clubs.

It's obvious that big clubs hoover up the talent and they stagnate (maybe they should push for loans at smaller clubs for development) but is it hard to turn down a much big offer even if that is short term.

It's a well known fact that 80% of the kids in the academies go onto the scrap heap and never make it pro. I think i would take the money. You don't know how you will develop or if injuries will take their toll or whether you are going to be good enough at that age. Unless you were a first team regular in a prem side, anyone lower down the league would be muggins not to take the money to go to the top imo.

But what would you say to your kid?

knowing that at 15 he is in demand and his current club will prob debut him in firsts in a year or so.

I agree they stagnate, they don't work hard enough etc etc.

Would you put your kid in the meat grinder?

Lets look at a few examples:

Raheem sterling. bought 15 from QPR. QPr could not say no. Kid took money. kid then got agent and **** on LFC and went to city. Kid will prob have long mercenary career and end up in mls or something

Dani Pacheco. Bought in too, no agent, played and starred at u17 level for spain. Debut was delayed by rafa. played and was average at u19 euros for spain. went on loands. ended up on scrap heap. Was it work rate, luck.. who knows. no heart in ti maybe i dunno

Suso. Bought in. Played under rogers early. was awful. got sent on loan/demanded to go on loan. told lfc to stuff it and went to AC. huges success thus far there.

Jerome Sinclair. Bought as kid. Debuted by rodgers way too early. Got agent told klopp to stuff it and went to watford. sent off on loan. not looking good

those are bought players only btw... i could quote 50 local kids who never got close.

if you were raheems dad would you have got him that agent or would you have let him go up north in first place? I dunno I would. but then he could be still at qpr if i were.

IMO keep em close to home and under the thumb.

We shouldn't assume that kids move just because of the money. The 15 year has a chance of joining the soon to be premier league champions, play amongst other quality youngsters, better facilities and exposure to senior stars.

I understand that playing first team football in Scotland is still better than u23 but it's still a great opportunity and if a player doesn't think he can compete or back himself to succeed, then he should stay at a lower club because he doesn't have the mentality to play top level football.

That's true, i was talking more about the kids who are 16+.

Acadamy kids are paid peanuts anyway right? maybe a couple of grand a week but that's no good in the context of a footballer. I'm not sure what i would say to my child.

For the kids who are 16+ and getting regular football at reserves and potentially first team, thats the talent chelsea have been hoovering up. Who knows if they would have made it but would you stay in the french 2nd division/league 1 where you are either ultra talented a la dele alli, just broken into the first team because your club is being stingy/can't afford players/want to use their youth a la lookman and stones.

I don't know what the percentage of these players who make it through are, but if i'm judging by what goes on in the premier league how many youth players really make it through and go onto be a great/solid premier league player. For every Warnock who did alright for a while, as you say theres a pacheco, a spearing, a gael kakuta etc. Assuming that you have a youth team of around 30/40 players, and they disappear into obscurity when they are not kept on.

I imagine the lower leagues/foreign leagues will have something similar but maybe a smaller size of academy players (10 - 20 maybe?) and of that lot most of them will probably go the same way as the academy prospects that i just wrote about in the PL teams. if a club is willing to triple my pay to 10k a week or whatever it is, then i would be advising them to go and take that opportunity personally as so few numbers make it through.

acadmey kids should be played a lot less that full pros

LFc tried to bring in 40k per YEAR for a first year pro (17)

now... that aint going to happen is it.

IMO yes theres a lot of turn over year to year and sure ok you buy towards the end of that period, my point is if someone said ok. cheslea are in.. great.. ym own club must then rate me highly and have to advance me or lose me. I would not be thinking hmm yeah last 20 years cheslea sure have done well by kids like me.

The reality is at 18 thats when the 10k starts coming. in england... not elsewhere and thats where you see a huge fall off in effort imo too. Just my opinion though. My point is stay where you are and work hard and the rewards will come.

That's where i will have to disagree. The 10ks at 18 do not come down the lower leagues. Based on 2014/2015 wages, the average wage of a championship player is 6k, 1.5k for a League 1 player and 800 quid for a League 2. **** knows what that is in the foreign leagues that aren't the top clubs.

If Chelsea or Liverpool or United come in for a player and offer 5-10k to them over 2 or 3 years (250k -> 500k a year) i would tell them to take it even if your career will probably stagnate. You just never know if you are going to make it into the big leagues. You might have enough talent but you might get injured, get ill who the **** knows. Maybe clubs just don't fancy you because you have the worse debut in the world or lose form so clubs don't trust you anymore and thats before you think about how many kids actually make it to the top

With that money you are set for life whereas you are also gambling that you develop enough to make it into the big leagues. You also have to remember in league 1, scottish leagues you have more cloggers to and less protection than they get in the premier league.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree

    Why is it funny

(what has happened to Klopp's pulling power with all the young German talent, maybe it was more the club than the manager that attracted them to Dortmund?).

I dont really agree they are set for life totally. 10kx52x3÷2=780k

Thats ****e all foir life. You know kids will piss that away quick. A house paid for great but its not going to really do you for 70 odd more years

However. You pointed out above. If you are a solid championship player then thats different. The whole point is if at 15 a chelsea is knocking then youve a fair chance of a pro career if you go about it right.

Thats the whole point... if you are in that bracket of interest you are prob not one of the 80% plus are likely to already know how to work at least a bit.

So... stay home and becone that player. Cos if you average 10k for 10 years then its a totally different matter isnt it.
