at last. When asked about Defoe leaving if we go down he responded with were not down were not planning to go down were planning to stay up with a little bit of fire in his belly. Might be too late but it's not negative for a change.
He has to back that up with a positive tactical approach now. Not the standing-off and conceding space that has been the theme so far under him.
I was going to say, I hope that Moyes and the lads aren't as resigned to relegation as a lot of us on here are, me included, or we may as well stop turning up. There's still a chance but there needs to be improvement and like Norton says ^ a more positive approach or we won't get any more wins.
If we're to escape the dreaded drop again, there needs to be a massive improvement mate and I mean massive. As has been said, we cannot go into games looking to not concede, we have to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and make a fight of it. I can live with relegation if we go down fighting, but I can't stand to lose and not have tried.
Will JD try? He can get back down south if we go down. Hope he's settled here and once again scores the goals to pull us out of the sh*te.
I got odds of 45-1 for a Sunderland 1-0 win and Defoe to score. Unlikely, hence the odds, but you never know. Early goal Moyes then shut up shop!
Load of rubbish. He's no that kind of lad IMO. He's tried since he came here - he wants to stay in contention with England so what is he going to gain by not trying.
I think that's a little unfair on JD Gil. The guy has delivered as much, if not more than anyone else in the team.
JD has been a revelation for me, as he doesn't seem to have lost anything from where he was before he went off to MLS. He's obviously in great shape and has been busting a gut for us while he's been here. If we do go down, he'll be one player who can walk away with his head held high, notwithstanding that he's a bit of a short-arse
For me you can count on 2 fingers those that can walk away with their heads held high. JD and Pickford. The others (excluding the long term injured) just get the 2 fingers!
I am of the same mind as the rest of you in that he is professional and will give his all but if we stay up what then? Will he go or will he stay?
He will go if we go down If we stay up he has a choice to make Either way, the bloke has been absolutely fantastic for us while everything else at the club has been a shambles That's why his professionalism should not be questioned
Why would he not try - imo i don't think he'd spit his dummy out like this. He is scoring goals, being selected for England, hero worshiped and is a model professional. His emotional response and attitude since being here don't support your view. I can see him getting 5 or 6 winning goals but many will differ with that.
