I don't understand why you would pay to go and watch England play a team like Lithuania.

    Almost guaranteed boredom!

Hoddle picks Defoe at MOTM despite commenting on how few touches of the ball he had. Presumably because Danny Rose wasn't playing

Feel sorry for JWP and Redmond.

They had to sit there and watch the full thing, couldn't even nip off to the kitchen for a bit!

If matches were a colour that one would have been beige.

Dull but job done at least. Can't really say if we play like that against better nations it will be different as it will be a completely different game.

Roll on the proper footy now <ok>

Still amazed about him saying Defoe MOTM

All he did was turn in a cross that I could have done! For me a MOTM performance should be better than something I could do on a Friday afternoon on a bobbly pitch

Comments about playing like that against bigger nations etc are irrelevant. Bigger nations won't put 11 men behind the ball. We got the job done and are a game closer to qualification. People just love to complain about the England squad. If saints play poorly and win we are all buzzing still. When England play okay and win 2-0, there are complaints. How odd

An unexpected consequence of my ongoing bet, has been to provide relief from an international weekend. Lincoln v Forest Green on BT Sport yesterday, Doncaster v Plymouth on SKY today. I wouldn't usually have been watching them, even on an international weekend. (Not that either result went for me, mind!)

I saw Lincoln won yesterday. Did Plymouth win too?

Yeah, 1-0. Doncaster's first home defeat of the season. Could have been a nine point gap, and league wrapped up. Instead it's a three point.

Yep. Thankfully Donny's GD is quite a bit better than Plymouth's, so they still need to slip up at least twice more. But that really was a glorious opportunity missed.

Important set of National League fixtures for me on Tuesday coming.

Ah yes, Gordon Strachan, probably still playing the same as in 2004. Not in a good way.
