Love this! I was treated somewhat odd by my mates in the late 80s when I was about 18/19 for liking this kind of stuff..but it is timeless. The more you listen to it the better it gets too.
I have a funny story about Mungo Jerry.
In about 1995/6 I was an alcoholic cocktail barman (threw bottles and all) in a restaurant in Bournemouth. I also used to host Karaoke in the restaurant from time to time. At Xmas, a friend of mine booked a table for her works do - 20 hairdressers and their partners. They were all enjoying the atmosphere and the singalong when a girl said have you got 'In The Summertime' on that Karaoke machine...I did. I asked who was going to sing it and she said "Mungo Jerry". I just smiled.
I did this stupid build up about how we next had a superstar on stage and to welcome Mungo Jerry. Guess what. IT WAS MUNGO JERRY!!!! (Ray Dorset)
He was awesome and I was so embarrassed afterwards![]()

Top of Old Christchurch Road, quite small - Smokey Joe's American Bar and Diner. Next to the old Alcatraz night club (owned by them actually). Now for where I learned my cocktail trade and flair (the throwing and general showmanship) that was Benedicts above the Academy![]()
Yeah, I know. Although, to be fair, there are a few pretty decent tracks. I didn't go down the Take That route, at least .....
And (sorry Fats) I don't have anything by Kylie.

That reminds me... I sold my car last monthand I wonder what the new owner thinks of the albums that were loaded onto its hard drive
From memory:
The Jam
Luther Vandross
Phil Collins
Prince
Ska Mania
Solid Soul (compilation of oldies, Aretha, Etta James, James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, etc)
and
.... Kylie's Christmas![]()
This is my favourite Ella song. Not hers originally of course, it's from the wartime Rogers and Hart musical "Pal Joey", and covered by everybody from Frank Sinatra to Linda Ronstadt. But Ella made it hers...Ella![]()
Well guess what I'll have playing next time I pick you up???
