Less talented mediocre players? Harsh jimmy. His concern shouldn't be X is earning his so I should be earning that.

Plus those earning more are regular first tesm players. Hendo, Milner both regular players (milner is obviously exception when comes to wages as well as was a freebie so wages are always slightly higher).

Can In 3 years hasn't nailed down a first team place. Now not all his fault and has been pushed into different roles which hasn't helped but if he thinks he should be earning X amount he needs to prove it. So far he hasn't and is a squad player in the team. Other players are more established, more consistent than him. He needs to get his head down work out with klopp and coaches where he's best to play for the next 10 years and try nail that role.

exactly my victim :)

if a player makes a spot in a first 11 his own and does his job the rewards will come.

if he seeks the rewards first chances are he will end up out the door at most clubs wondering where did it go wrong.

I don't think a lot of us are happy about the silly wages we pay players Jimmy.

But milner, lalana do justify it more than can as they usually have an impact on our game, and Milner has big game experience.

You certainly have an agenda where he is concerned.

You be happy if we paid him same as the other overpaid players?

If so justify it please.

How do they both justify it? Both had a good start to the season (Lallana in particular was outstanding) but done nothing since. They both run around and work hard?

I said previously that I don't think Can deserves the reported £100k a week but it would be in line with the rest of the team.

And I rather give the money to young talented players with potential to become better than ageing players who have no potential and maximum ceiling is squad player at best.

As mentioned - Can was our best midfielder last season and put in great performances. He's been poor this season and has played through injuries. We still need better but we should still be looking to tie him down.

With the exception of the Spurs game I think, Can has been first choice whenever fit?

market forces.

Milner could have signed and sat on city bench for 120k. handy. he could have gone elsewhere. so whether you like it or not he was bought in by rogers and iked by klopp and his wages are IRRELEVANT as they are market driven.

Lallana is liked by klopp so he gave him that pay rise whether or not you or i happen to think he's worth that.

Its clear klopp isn't thinking the same way about Can.

Klopp isn't involved in contract negotiations though. Your mate Edwards is. Klopp has signed he wants Emre to stay.

Problem with giving young players big wages is risk of them getting lazy. Thinking they've made the money don't need to try harder anymore. It's why should be a limit on wages can offer players in academy or under 18 fpr
example. Stop them getting silly money and being poached by bigger clubs giving big contracts at early age.

Milner and Lallana are both first team regulars (prob played most minutes between them this year) so have justified their wages. Always put effort in, contributed with goals and assists and in milners case filled a position where we have no other alternative to play.

Don't get me wrong - I don't think Can deserves that much at all. I'm just saying there are other players who on his level who are getting the same.

Whatever you say about Lallana and Milner - they contributed in the first half of the season but done nothing this year. Lallana plays more advanced than Can and Milner takes penalties and puts in 100 crosses each game so naturally both will have More goals and assists.

Merely playing a lot of games and working hard will never justify their wages. Similar to Can wanting £100k. Can works incredibly hard - covers a lot of ground in a non existent midfield.

excellent point. Lallana with respect to the lad fought his way up and took the opportunity when it came. I am willing to bet anyone who wants all the bullshit about how great sterling is will be long forgotten as he drops off and finds himself a sub at city next year... AND finds that 180k makes him think he has it made.

Lallana at least has fought and worked hard for where he's got but he annoys the hell out of me by vanishing then when the big game comes that he should actually be savouring as it what he has fought for!

Because we're not offering the talented players what they're asking for. We're just giving the mediocre players more than what they deserve.

We could have got Draxler but didn't want to pay the wages.
FFS can is not talented.

Your just pissed he isn't earning what the rest of the overpaid players are earning.

No idea what you see Jimmy sorry.

How do you know Draxler could have worked in the prem?

Us and utd have signed plenty of players good in europe who couldn't hack the prem.

you are telling me that klopp didn't ok any of it.... SSUUUUURRRRREEEE.

As for Mr Can, i'm sure klopp has said I want him to stay (at the right price)

You're telling me that Klopp is in the room and making final decisions on contracts?

He's had a handful of great performances this season and you think this justifies the big contract?

Everyone expected Sterling to fail but he's having a good season under pep.

But of course, you rather we lose our talented youngsters because you rather give the money to choirboys with no ambition.

Its not the big games he vanishes in, also that terms harsh. He along with most of the squad step up in the big games, it's the others where they sometimes go missing and have no effect on the game.

We'll have to agree to disagree on Can.

So you don't want to take risks on young talented players like Draxler because they may fail?

So you wouldn't have signed Torres mash, Alonso Suarez coutinho?

Even if X is getting more than Y. Doesn't mean Y should get the same. Maybe it was a mistake to give big contracts to Lallana and Milner for example but does that mean the club have to be held to ransom and now pay everyone with those 2 set as the benchmark? Maybe they've learnt paying them too much and don't want to make similar mistakes? Would you rather we just said ok Lallana is on 90k a week so we'll give everyone that as a benchmark?

Yeah Lallana hasn't been brilliant 2nd half of the year (since he came back from injury) but he has still had an impact on games and he's not a squad player. Can is, when we have fully fit midfield he's 4th on the list so should he be earning the same as the other 3 that are ahead of him at tenmoment?

This is where money is such a problem because his contract should be about his future as a player whwere he plays how often he plays (which it might, but I doubt it is) rather than, can I get an extra 10k a week which will make no difference to his lifestyle.
