The cynic in me says it's because we're ''small time'' - it's easier, and popular, to jump on the bandwagon and slag ex-managers/players into the dirt.
The old banners weren't removed at the request of fans ffs, the club just stopped putting them up, probably because Mooney left (though I'm not sure an In Bruce We Trust banner sends the right message to Silva anyway).
Who said they were ffs ? It may come as a bit of a surprise to you but its not up to you which banner sends which message to whom.
You asked why we take these banners down, when other clubs don't, I just pointed out that it wasn't a decision we made. I never suggested anything was up to me.
Why would you have a banner for Steve Bruce and not Phil Brown, Peter Taylor or any of the other great managers we've had? They aren't the manager anymore, they don't need a banner, especially as SB is now managing another club. It's hardly respectful to Marco Silva either, the incumbent manager, to see a recent manager being lauded, it sends out totally the wrong message.
Chelsea and Manchester United must have it wrong then because their stadiums are bestowed 24/7, 52 weeks a year with banners and tributes to previous managers and players. Someone have a word with Liverpool too because I could swear I saw a Bill Shankly banner, Jock Stein, and a Bob Paisley banner last time I was there. What will that Klopp fella think ?
Bruce was garbage - the banner was an embarrassment - send it to AV - they think he's garbage as well
Perhaps that's why Arsenal's players continue to underperform? It can't be easy with those giant 'The Invincibles' figures on the side of the Emirates.
Ahhhh sorry my bad, I completely forgot that Bruce won us all those titles and we went undefeated for an entire Premier League season. I guess keeping a banner up for a bloke that didn't win us an FA Cup final and failed to qualify us for the Europa League at the expense of a small Belgian team is fair.
In the context of the history of Hull City Steve Bruce was to us what Shankly was to Liverpool. Perhaps they have a bit more class and respect in Liverpool ?
Bruce is obviously our most successful ever manager, but the bar has been set fairly low and comparing him with Shankly is just embarrassing.
