I'm wanting a new car, was orginally optimistically aiming for a Volvo XC60, best thing I've driven. But boy does it cost da bucks. So considering an X-Trail instead as I've got a Qashqai. Anyone got any other recommendations? As it's an extension of my incredibly moderately sized member, it's got to be a BIG car.

Don't buy the x-trail without trying the Mazda cx series. I tired a cx3 and thought it was a really nice motor. I've not sat in but not driven but the 5 I think would be similar. I thought the new Kia sportage was also very nice. I'm saying this as a bit of a badge man as my first thought is to go for European motors but you can't argue with quality for your money. My mechanic raves about both of the above also.

I think CX3 is a fair bit smaller than the X-Trail. CX5 would more comparable but fair play I've never driven it.

We have a Focus and I hate it. Worst car we've ever had. Only reason we went for a Ford this time was because our old Mondeo ran like a dream.
Now looking for a small car for my daughter to start learning in.

You learnt in a chinook didn't you?

My last car was a Ford Focus. Worst car I have ever owned. Had it two years and it was in the garage 14 times with various problems. The ST Fiesta is a good car, but after my experience I will never buy another Ford. Funny thing is, my current car, Alfa Romeo Mito is easily the best car I have ever owned. For a brand that is supposedly unreliable, modern Alfa's are amazing.

I had 5 Golf GTi's in a row of each mark from the first, 4 was a complete mess, terrible version but 1 and 5 were brilliant, if I had the budget it would be a Golf R or Audi RS 3 for me, the only thing is service costs have shot up, even the Fiesta service with 1st MOT is getting on for £400. I know that I can get it cheaper elsewhere but having had problems in the past trying to get things repaired after servicing at least I can get accountability from a dealer and have even had the full cost of service and MOT refunded from a main dealer in the past when things went wrong with their systems.

If I had the budget I would go for the new Alfa Giulia QV. Never been a fan of German cars myself. drove a scirocco R last year. For the price it is garbage.

If budget was not a problem, it'd be Jaguar F-Pace all day long.

I'll be probably going for the higher end X-Trail rather than a slightly older XC60. Already have a Nissan so probably going to maximise my part-ex and finance by staying with. Not really sure of these Kia and Hyundai suggestions. Mazda's nice but just more expensive to service and source parts than Nissan.

Hyundai/ Kia's are decent. I can't get away with the interiors which are cheap plastic. Aside from the Kia Ceed, they are ugly as hell too.

Likewise. I own one and it's my pride and joy. If we got Alfa as a sponsor that would just be it.

I've just sold my GT which I was a not too happy about but trying to buy a house and didn't actually need the second car.

Last summer for my honeymoon we hired a 1962 Giulia Spider to drive the amalfi coast which was class!

I was looking at the GT before I bought my Mito. Still love getting in and driving. True what they say - True drivers car. I'd love to get behind the wheel of the classic Spider. Then again, I'd love to drive the Giulia QV and leave everyine for dust!
