If this is true then SL had no choice but to sack JP. I know we all want a different change made, however you can't let the current wave of resentment by many on here towards LJ cloud you're judgement into thinking these actions are acceptable, especially if it's in front of the players!
 
I totally agree but there is always a breaking point and trying to find out the root cause might answer some questions. Violence towards any workmate is a sacking offence in my books.

No Cliftonville, that's literally my point. There is hysteria from a wide group of fans moaning about his sacking when in reality all they're able to base his performance on is him being a nice guy. More accurately, the only possible way to judge his performance this season is by results, in which he has to generally take the same flack as Holden and Johnson until we know otherwise.

Your point was the amount of influence John Pemberton had? I asked you to outline what it was. Mr Pemberton had little influence. His role was supportive.

Mr Pembertons role was also employed as a trusted, experienced individual to provide stability to the FC by creating a structure which means the Head Coach can be removed with minimal change, which is why he has remained at the FC through previous changes.

Unless he has been sacked due to misconduct this smacks of "Don't trust him, trust me, it is not my team selection and tactics at fault it was his" .... Bullshit.

It's all speculation and guess work, we don't know what the set up is down there...what he was initially employed for is one thing, what he actually did is another.
Most of this forum is opinion and not fact, we can only second guess what goes on behind closed doors!

No, my point was that people are moaning about his sacking when in reality they don't know what he did. As a side note, I added that as the Assistant Manager/Head Coach/whatever they want to call it, you'd expect him to have the second-highest level of authority over the playing squad and therefore there is no substance or justification for the masses of fans calling for LJ's head but loving Pembo.

The beginning of that second paragraph just sounds like usual business bullshit bingo to be honest, aside from the structure point which we all know about; the supposed modular structure of the club. Past that point, we know nothing about his role, and there is no justification for the love-in from what I can see.

I'd also like to clarify that I'm not slating him, he was a very nice bloke, and on the other side, I know nothing about how good/bad he was either. I just don't understand the slating of everyone in positions around him, but not him.
 
Didn't even get a thank you on the OS for three years at City including winning a league. All points to he had a bust up against a Manager who has no league championship wins no experience no tactics no clue what his best team is, the worst run of defeats in history and got the bullet for it.

He was the assistant coach. Assistant. As he was to previous Coaches/Managers.

At a coaches seminar at the South Bristol Sport centre ran by the Somerset FA he was a guest. He explained what he did at BCFC - Run coaching session at the bequest of the Head Coach on what particular elements of play the Head Coach wanted to focus on = Doing what he is told. It was a supportive role freeing up the Head Coach to concentrate on other elements of the team.

It is no love in ... Mr Pemberton was no fool but he is being made a scapegoat for the failings of somebody his role was to support.

The fact he didn't get a thank you from the club backs up the theory doing the rounds about a potential assault on LJ. In not thanking him it will lessen JP position when he undoubtedly seeks compensation, if the club are falling over him with compliments it will drive up his compo payments. SL may not be too shrewd when it comes to football decisions, but he's clearly no mug, or has better advisors looking after other areas.
In fairness to SL and the club, for as long as I can remember they have always put on record their thanks for staff efforts, so this has to be for something other than pure footballing reasons. Those not blinded by hate towards LJ and/or SL will be able to see this!!

Well people did want him to be more assertive!!!!!

Think he told LJ what he thought and Lee was straight up to his adopted Dad Steve and cried that somebody was being beastly to him and he is out. Steve Lansdown is starting to look like a big fck off mug. Somebody is advising him to keep LJ!!!!!

I like all the conspiracy theories regarding his falling out with LJ, how about another one. It wasn't an altercation with LJ at all but one of the players. How did Giefer's mystery eye injury come about? ;):emoticon-0130-devil:emoticon-0127-lipss

hatred!!!! don't hate anybody apart from Maggie Thatcher!!!!

I have been clear in what camp I am in. Johnson is out of his depth does not matter if he is decent bloke he is out of his depth.

what do we know about Pembertons record. one thing he did when in charge was organise the defence big time. this season it has been a shambles. no way is that Pembertons work.

the Head coach keeps picking the wrong players players and tactics. whats Pemberton supposed to do??? why is it Pemberton getting the boot???

Steve Lansdowns judgement looks bloody awful every way you look at it because if Pemberton was the wrong un he employed him for three years???!!!

So in your eyes, there is no one at fault, backroom-staff wise, except for Lee Johnson, despite the fact that none of us see what goes on behind closed doors and none of us have the slightest clue as to the levels of competency of any of the staff aside from LJ.

And it clearly is a love in. Have you seen the uproar? Would Dean Holden get the same? Of course not!

John Pemberton is a highly qualified coach. He has experience. Ten years coaching at Forest, Three at City. He was employed by BCFC to create stability at the FC beneath in and out going Head Coaches/Mangers.

He is clearly competent to hold down over a decade of employment in coaching roles at professional clubs.

Mr Pemberton in public explained what went on in training. He explained his role at BCFC in public in front of grass roots coaches at SBSC Whitchurch.

One of his adages was you train as you play ... Well he has had to throw that away.

Bristol City have been a reflection of the Head coach not its coaches. City play differently each week, each half ... No coach can follow that morass of muddled thinking unless there are players there with a degree of flexibility BCFC will never be able to afford.

The wrong man has gone unless Mr Pemberton has been guilty of gross misconduct.

Pemberton has been coach under SOD, Cotterell and now LJ, apart from the promotion season all the other years can been seen as poor, so he hasn't really got a great track record, so not really understanding the love in.

So he was responsible for one great season (record points) ... But the reality was that was down to Steve Cotterill because Mr Pemberton did not instruct to Steve Cotterill to play 3-5-2 every week, make very few changes, keep the squad small, play consistent shape and play players constantly in familiar positions, as much as he is responsible for the worst run in City history and Lee Johnson doing the polar opposite of Mr Cotterill.

Highlighting that is no love in.

The man with the responsibility for City being where they are keeps his job.
