Sanchez did it on purpose. He wanted to get dropped. He feared going up against Emre Can lest he be humiliated. #smartmove
The manager has to be in control. Sanchez should not be doing Wenger's job and then getting punished for it. This has all come about because Wenger is weak.
Bit like Liverpool, you guys don't buy the current star, you make the next one. They move on for large amounts to bigger and better clubs (or Chelsea once they're washed up ) and opposition fans see it as a production line. We knew Suarez would be off if one of the Spanish giants came calling but I was happy for him to use us as a stepping stone. He needed to play very well to get that desired move, that's great for both parties.
I never said Arsenal had a chance of winning the league last season, I said they got closer to it than others; backed up by the fact Arsenal finishing second to Leicester, the winners! Agree with the player stance part.
Wasn't trying to put words in your mouth or twist what you were saying or even argue. Sorry if it came across like that. Just trying to make the point that them coming 2nd when we failed to get just 3 points from our last 4 games made their season seem semi decent when (for them) it was it's usual fall away in Feb and March and then have a decent finish. Imho our failure to make 2nd spot has been really damaging to them as it papered over some pretty big cracks which are in danger of becoming a Grand Canyon
That's the point though Arsenal are close to winning the league, if they dip in their pockets and kick Wenger out, they have everything in place to be challenging. Problem is the owners don't want to challenge, it's easier to just plod along with Wenger and not spend too much. #profits
Theoretically yes but they could go the other way by booting Wenger too. I think they've reach the point in which they need to find out now though...
That's spot on, well for the fans anyway I would think. They need to see what they can achieve by bringing in a new manager and backing him financially, problem is that there's not a club in England that has such a division between the club and it's fans. The board don't care what the fans want and if Wenger gets 4th he'll be there next season.
I don't see Wenger as the problem at Arsenal, they were always on the cusp before the new stadium came up. Wenger was obviously told to not spend heavily on new players which could have taken them to the next level. Spurs are to make the same mistakes as Arsenal have....new stadium and no real money to strengthen and better the squad. So don't expect seeing them stepping up to the next level anytime soon. Like Arsenal their top players won't hang about if they're not winning things. All the top six clubs and players want to play European football and win trophies.
Have to say I agree with this completely. Arsenal getting second did actually **** them over somewhat by, like you say, papering over some cracks. But now I am just waiting for HIAG to come in and say it was Poch's plan all along to let them get second and thus he sabotaged Spurs' last 3 games of the season
If the Goons had finished 3rd there would have been some classic Wenger blurb, but nothing from the board as CL qualification job done regardless. We all know the only seismic event will be when the Goons under Wenger fail to get their annual CL ticket.
Surely losing the fans has got to have some impact. Even with TV revenue, it is still important to keep the customers happy.
