I used to have to do something similar, albeit in health services. Poncing around with suited and booted private health care directors and pharmaceutical reps. Some of the slimeiest people on the earth. Their basic mantra, like any business was, sell as many units to as many people for as long as possible and screw the quality or long term health costs. They used to spend thousands on trying to wine and dine GP's and prescribing chemists etc at fancy hotels, weekends away, posh meals, wine, gifts etc. ****ing leaches simply after business. I boycotted the pharma reps in the end and had them banned from the service I managed.
The afternoon ones are more bareable as there is booze. Went to one before Christmas was a Christmas sausage party. 15 different varieties of sausage with three different types of mash and three different flavours of gravy. Bottles of peroni and red wine.
I went to Xmas chanagne breakfast party in The City about 17-18 yrs ago now. The idea was to have breakfast with a glass and then off to work. It started at around 7am, and four or five of us finally left at 4 pm The downside was I decided to buy a digital camera on the way home. They were pretty much a new thing back then and it cost me about £600 from memory. Seemed like a good idea at the time!
I went to a party once with a group of student nurses and trainee trauma surgeons. It was supposed to be a few drinks, snacks and a bit of a dance followed by relatively early night. I remember thinking I'd be in safe hands if anything went awry with a bunch of doctors and nurses. I remember going on to a club with a few of them after the 'light' entertainment had finished, eventually we ended up back at the hospital although I don't remember that bit. I woke up in a hospital bed with a student nurse asleep next to me and one curled up on the end of the bed, a lad asleep in the chair and loads of empties strewn around the room. I'd also had my arm put into plaster cast, I don't remember any that either. My arm wasn't broken, but I was told that I was used as a practice dummy because I was so pissed I didn't put up any resistance
By the time I reached 15 ,my father always made a point of saying to me when I was going to a party "Son , don't forget to apologize when you leave "
My old school was close to the Royal Infirmary in Leicester - first year home from University and back together with old school mates in the local near the school - then, having been in the town hall square for the new year we ended up back inear the infirmary at a pub which was rumoured to be having a late (and secret) lock-in - anyway we managed to wangle our way in past a bloke on the door who gave up attempting to persuade us that there was nothing going on inside. Sure enough they had a function room out the back and we went in it was rammed with nurses from the hospital (not in their gear though - shame ). Anyway, it went on until about four in the morning when me and my mate ended up walking two back to the nurses accommodation block where the one who was off her face lived and my mate stayed hoping that he might get some 'comatose' action. Then walkked the other back to her digs, a house over the Upperton Rd bridge near the old Filbo. She was a red head - looked a bit like Kiki Dee but with huge tits. She asked if I wanted to stay but was adamant that there would be no 'funny business' as she had made a new year resolution including not sleeping with men on the first date. She told me she was 26 - I remember think9ing that was really old. Ended up going home sometime in the afternoon with my dick smelling of failed new year resolution. Fookin great nurses!
I think it's something about the fact that in front of nurses, all sorts of inhibitions have to be waived. They are so used to seeing naked bodies, bodily fluids etc, that very little seems to shock them, this all translates to them not really being the shy and retiring types, which with a few drinks in them, turns them into party animals. That was my experience anyway.
Me too . Their fans have had to endure some pretty dodgy owners . That 15 point deduction stunted their progress too .
