What club does Simeone manage, Pix?

Where is his club, at this precise moment, in La Liga?

How many points behind Barca and Real is that club?

Is there another club ahead of Simeone's club? How many points ahead of Atletico is Sevilla?

Simeone isn't even competitive in a league that generally presents a two-horse race! And, yet, you think he'd be the perfect choice for Leicester in fighting relegation in the hardest league in the World?

You accuse me of being "new" to football, but it seems to me that you have a very limited understanding of how things work in this sport, Pix. I say that without wishing to cast any aspersions on your character, as I am sure that there are many things that you are good at. Football isn't one of them, Pix. That is probably the reason why you put your faith in Wenger for so very long when it was clear to your fellows that he was past his sell-by date.

<laugh> The bloke has won La Liga HIAG. He's also won the Copa del Rey, the Europa League and got to two Champions League finals. So he's more than demonstrated that he's got what it takes in both his domestic league and in European competition. I haven't said he'd be a 'perfect choice for Leicester' I was pulling up your batshit claim that he's no better than Hodgson.

And you're trying to accuse of having limited understanding of how things work <rofl>

Ranieri won the Prem, mate. Look what happened to him.

Being a title-winning manager appears to count for nothing when it comes to a relegation battle.

By your own admission you said that Ranieri 'fluked' the league. Simeone has won multiple trophies all in the space of a few years.

Anyway, I'm not suggesting that Simeone should go to Leicester, I'm highlighting how ridiculous your claim is that Hodgson (and Moyes) are as good as Simeone.

That sounds good, Pix, but you know full well that that isn't what I said.

So that we do not go round and round in pointless circles on this, let me further clarify my opinion.

It is wrong to assume that Simeone would do better in the Prem that either Moyes or Hodgson merely because Simeone has won things abroad.

I have lifted the following off Wiki, which is quite interesting:-

"Speaking about Hodgson's time at Inter, club president Massimo Moratti said: "Roy Hodgson was an important person in the development of Inter Milan to the point we have reached today. He saved us at the right time. When he came we were in trouble and things appeared dark. He didn’t panic, he was calm and made us calm. Disaster was averted at the most important time. Everyone at Inter will remember him for that and his contribution. He is considered by us all as an important person in our history. He left an endowment to this club that’s important in our history."

Isn't this what LCFC need right now?

I thought you were scoffing at the idea of Hodgson being Leicester manager as you said their owners were about to wum them with his appointment.
And now you seem to be advocating his appointment as a good thing for Leicester ?

As for Simeone, I think you're off your head. Simply because Moyes and Hodgson have PL experience, it doesn't make them better managers than Simeone would be in the PL. Personally I think he'd do a brilliant job in the PL, because he understands how to set teams up to defend as a unit and when to attack. I think his tactics and man management would be well suited to the PL.

I'm not saying he should be appointed manager at Leicester, certainly not with so much opposition from the fans.

What I am saying is that, in my opinion, he'd do no better or worse than other managers, and those that might be considered to be a bit more exotic than him.

My view is that they should keep that Shakespeare follow until the end of the season, as he seems to know the players, and they clearly seem to want to play for him in a way that they no longer wanted to play for Ranieri (as evidenced by the game against 'Pool).

As for Simeone, I think you're off your head.

Why? The arguments I put forward are reasonable.

I think you are falling into the trap that, just because Simeone is foreign and has done well abroad, that he'd be automatically be able to get LCFC out of trouble. Sorry, but I do not accept that.

You continuing to bang about my comparison between Simeone and Hodgson/Moyes is disingenuous. I am not saying - nor have I ever said - that either of Moyes or Hodgson is better than Simeone. I'm merely saying that there is no guarantee that Simeone would be any better at saving LCFC from relegation than either Hodgson or Moyes.

I cannot see why that should be so startling for you to hear.

Accepted.

But do you accept that simply because Simeone has an exotic name and has done well abroad that that doesn't mean that he would have any better chance than either Moyes or Hodgson in saving LCFC from relegation?

I think that Simeone would do better at Arsenal or City than would Hodgson/Moyes, and better than he would do at Leicester.

He may well do, Pix. I cannot say that you are either right or wrong to hold that opinion. We won't know until he tries.

However, the hard fact is that only a handful of foreign managers have been a roaring success in the Prem, compared with the number of failures there have been. There was a debate on Adrian Durham's show, tonight, which mooted the question as to whether or not Klopp should be sacked, bearing in mind that he's doing worse than Rodgers did. When Klopp can to the Prem, most pundits were raving about him just as you are about Simeone. The facts will inform you that Simeone has more chance of emulating Klopp than Conte.

When you first came up with this idea that simeone is no better than moyes hodgson, it was in the context of Arsenal as it was being discussed on the Wenger thread, but it's good to see you doing a u-turn on that and now saying that you think he'd do well.

Nobody is suggesting that he should go to Leicester, although he'd still do better there than hodgson. I find it interesting that you have also done a u-turn on hodgson at Leicester now though, as you seem to be saying that he'd be good for them, when a short while ago you were scoffing that it would be a massive wum on their owners behalf.

There has been no U-turn, Pix.

However, if that is what you want to believe, fill your boots.

The old HIAG would have used this particular point of departure to enter into several pages of pointless wummery with you, but the new HIAG is beyond all of that.

I think it best that you and I draw a line under this argument, as our lines of departure on the various aspects appear to have been fully explored.

Okay, let's just say that you've changed your mind after I've given you some insight. <ok>

That's what I loved about Hodgson, Tobes. There wasn't a deluded bone in his body, and he spoke with realism, and from the heart. I can understand why the red Mousers didn't like to hear it, but the man was speaking the truth at that point in time.

Please, before anyone gets on my back and tries to accuse me of wumming, look at the part that I have emphasised.
I can see both sides tbf, as they viewed it as him dumbing down expectation off the back of his own failure.

So whilst he was being truthful he'd have been better off fudging the question when asked. That signalled the end for him iirc.

My sock account has made some excellent posts tonight lads :)

Please don't say that I gave Pixie a rinsing, because that is the kind of thing that the old HIAG would have said, and those who continue to refuse to let go of the past.

Pixie is stubborn and he likes to misrepresent one's argument, but I am prepared to forgive him these faults. I am grateful for the fact that we have engaged in, at least, some form of discussion without recourse to any obvious insults of put-downs, at least on my part.

I feel that progress has been made today, Tobes.

I agree mate, your contribution has definitely improved since I've been making it <laugh>

Why would he say that when you've just done a double u-turn, firstly over Roy Hodgson at Leicester and then regarding Simeone should he join a club like Arsenal ?

I'm going to give HIAG a 4 out of 10 tonight for his efforts.
He has at least tried to talk football, even if he has contradicted himself a couple of times. But it's a start at least. <ok>

Leicester City are looking for a new mananger after sacking Claudio Ranieri last week and the new Foxes coach could be another former Blues: Guus Hiddink.

The Dutchman guided Chelsea in two occasions: in 2009, after Felipe Scolari was sacked, and last season after José Mourinho got the boot, winning the FA Cup in his first spell at Stamford Bridge:

“I think Leicester has done very well by going with the assistant manager after Ranieri’s dismissal. They proved themselves against Liverpool. I have no had contact with Leicester,” Hiddink told to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

“I have so much love for football that I do not exclude it. I never go to a club for several years, but I think it’s great to be working with young people.”
