I mean like anyone.
You don't have to work in the industry to get it.
Music means different things to different people. To some its everything, to others its nothing.
Music touches everyone in a different way. Stuff that makes me go cold, will fire up and excite someone else.
Clearly lots of people enjoy Coldplay and Little Mix and thats what music is about. Touching you.
Personally I have varied tastes, I love late 70s and early 80s Crass type Punk, guitar based indie, hardcore trance, electronica, Norwegian black metal and grunge and goth. I've always loved Hip Hop and Rap (reminds me of a new generation of what I loved about Punk, and its basically street poetry), and I like UK Grime and urban beats.
I also enjoy listening to Little Mix and Maroon 5. They make me happy.
Can't stand Weller, but rate Kurt Cobain as one of the greatest musicians of the last century.
Casually dismissing stuff that's popular as ****, or an affront to the industry, or the public, just displays rank ignorance of what music is and what it does. Is some of it mass produced, soulless and commercial? Sure. But someone likes it. So, you know, who cares? You might think its cool to diss it, but it doesn't, it just makes you look daft.
