I've seen a link saying in the region of 16m. As already said, what with the public hardball from Stoke and the offer being 4m (an average of the 2 figures in this thread) under our valuation of 21, I can't see Levy being dictated to. He doesn't do 20% discounts either!
If this deal raises funds and results in us bringing in Diarra (a better Palacios) and NEW STRIKER then I'll be happy!
It won't. It'll raise funds yeah, but at the price of getting rid of a combatative midfielder that is the only current replacement for the injured Sandro and VDV's preferred strike partner, so it'll weaken us immensely, even if we bring in Diarra and a NEW STRIKER soon after.
not a hope in hell Diarra probably not, wages + transfer fee seems to be beyond us - more likely to be Parker Samba maybe, but only for waaaaay too much money + Bassong, who isn't good enough at the minute but has more potential and a longer shelf life than the Blackburn player Llorente nope, will not come to us
Llorente is not worth the asking price. If we are seriously considering spending that sort of money on a striker, I'd rather go for Rossi.
we're not seriously considering spending that sort of money on a striker though are we, we scratching around the blue Mancs trying to get AnyBuyer on loan. thats our level now
TBH, DB, I don't know. According to several reports, we had made serious enquiries about Rossi; so I'm guessing that it must have, at least, been thought about. I think the problem is, that Levy and Harry are looking for bargains; and, there ain't any in the striking dept. Premium prices, only. And, I for one, don't see that situation changing anytime soon.
In January, serious enquiries for Rossi et al. may well have been the case, in more recent times I don't think we have made a single serious enquiry about any next level striker. and I agree, premium prices are required, and I do think we have the money to do it, but now I don't think any of them would come near us as we have shown absolutely no ambition - which is why the likes of Pedroza Whitham and Ruiz think that they are the bees knees and will be our new signings and AnyBuyer & Parker think that we will bend over backwards to get hold of them. To be honest, I'm of the opinion now that we should just say **** it for this season, buy no-one, sell Modric & Bale, let Harry take the England job, then totally rebuild next summer with a huge transfer kitty.
What I don't get is that we were bidding big money for strikers (Aguero,Rossi, Llorente & Negredo) on the last day of the transfer window in January so the money must be there. Or were we only bidding to help secure 4th again and if so and we signed someone for £30million and still finished 5th would we have been in the deep stuff? I can't Levy operating the club like that so I assume we have a large amount of cash set aside for NEW STRIKER.
I concur King, the money is there, the only change is we aren't there or thereabouts for a decent showing this upcoming season - so why would any player worth his salt want to come here.
True, players want CL and/or high wages and we can't offer either. Could be a long season. You never know though, Keane could go out and score 20 goals this season
