Ponders, this is the key point for me. If it was Elliot vs Sullivan, I'd keep Elliot for all the reasons outlined, both sentimental and otherwise. If Hamer is a better keeper, I'm happy to let Robbie go as he's worth more than Sullivan in the current climate. I'd rather have a better keeper.

I don't idolise him like you do and think there are better goal keepers out there. If he doesn't want to accept a longer contract and be No 1 then so be it, it's his choice. It makes perfect sense for Chris Powell to try to get some money for him so that he doesn't leave on a free next summer then the club gets nothing. Don't fans contstantly bemoan the fact that our players come to the end of their contracts and then go elsewhere with Charlton getting no return, Semedo anyone. By the way all this information is on the Official site as quoted by Powell so hardly conjecture is it.

The definition of vitriol is malice, expressing a view that he may no longer be the best option with the other two goal keepers we have isn't.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already on another thread today but Hamer has tweeted that he is out of tomorrows game, due to an injury picked up in training.

    Maybe Elliot will play?

A very good post Ponders. Bar the odd cup game for Reading, Hamer has only ever played for the likes of Brentford and Exeter, if he was so great surely he would have been on loan for a top League One/Championship side, everybody on here is acting as if this is the signing of the season when judging from his stats he's an average League One keeper. I hope I'm proved wrong.

As for Elliot, the lad doesn't even have an agent, so I'm far more inclined to believe the board tried to take advantage of that when negotiating a new deal rather than believing he's asking for Premier League wages/acting as if he wants out of the club.

Very fine performance today from Elliott IMO - didn't expect to see him, but very solid indeed.

Red Flag. You seem to think that all of my comments are aimed at you. They are just my opinions, not a personal slight on any given member. But you did helpfully point out -and I thank you because I am not as clever as you - that the definition of vitriol is malice. Is making an insulting comment about Robbie's waist size being 44 not vitriolic?

But if you really want me to make comment on you then I will. You are a broken record of pessimism and condescension. What a bundle of laughs life with you must be, eh?

Great game all round, Elliot seemed Solid, did one fumble but no one around so I don't really mind if he does it then.

I like Elliot more then most, Suli is the better all round keeper imo Elliot better shot stopper, but today he was pretty solid and was good at claiming the ball when he wanted it. Good game, and maybe 3 keepers will get the best out of them with the high competition. But great strikes today, well played boys :D

Your personal attack on my views doesn't contribute anything positive to this board either so well done on the irony. Those comments on Elliot are distasteful insults but the debate is about who would make the better No 1 goal keeper and not descending into a slanging match. Elliott had a great game on Saturday but I don't think he'll be able to sustain it consistently throughout the season.

I don't really get what you mean. Perhaps it was too abstract for my simple mind.

I haven't read the new comments, not through ignorance but through being pissed. Elliot deserves the jersey, as much as it hurts me, and as much as I wish I could say- but it's for the club to say what happens if/when Elliot gets sold.

BUT- as I haven't seen Hamer he need s to stay number 1. Plus he is still as popular as ever in the dressing room. Fat ****
