You won't go back once you have tried it I'm of the opinion that the mass produced cereals we are all familiar with are not good for us at all. High sugar, high salt in many, and high in gluten aswell. (Its worth reading a little on the effects of gluten on the digestive tract, its scary) I should give you the correct measures, it's all in cups which is easy to do.( Probably means it's yank aswell but don't let that put you off ) 2 cups ground almonds 1 cup dess. coconut 1 cup almond flakes 1 cup of seeds (I always put in more than that) 1 cup of nuts (usually generous with this too) Pinch of salt The coconut flakes, milled flax etc. I've added to the recipe myself. Just remember the more dry ingredients you add, the more wet ingredients you will need. This helps the granola to 'clump' slightly and obv. takes away the dryness. The wet ingredients is about a cups worth (maybe a little more) of coconut oil and nut butter (I'm using cashew butter at the mo.) Gently heat while your mixing the dry stuff, then mix together. Then into a baking dish lined with greaseproof paper. The oven only needs to be on about 160 for 20 mins. Just give it a mix at halfway to make sure its slightly roasted throughout. Like I say, the wet ingredients can include sweeteners like honey etc. I exclude this cos' I have problems with sugars Lastly, I will eat this at any time of the day with a rice milk usually. Others will go for soya or almond milk etc.
Just watch out for added sugars in almond milk, I've tried it a few times but prefer Rice milk. There is so many alternatives these days...........hemp milk, oat milk, nut milks etc. I get mine from my local health store because I know its the real deal, but supermarkets are exploiting the growth in healthfood and producing their own brands........be cautious. I'd be interested to know how you get on.
Nope.....totally different. And I would avoid buying nut butters from the big chains (Tesco etc.) .......They often have palm oils in them. Go to a healthstore and get some decent stuff....no point in using all those good ingredients only to ruin it with some crap nut butter.
Sorry to interrupt your muesli thread. We keep getting linked to Aubameyang. I would absolutely love to sign him but he will surely go to one of the mega rich teams who will throw money at him. Even if there's a small chance, send him the armband and break the bank. Come on FSG, this is your chance to show us that you're serious. Thank you Enjoy your rabbit food
Yeah..........have you got a Holland and Barrett or similar around your way? That's where you will find some good nut butter
I thought it suited the thread as we are talking about transferring food to the mouth. Aubameyang has said the wants to go to Real Madrid.
Worth a look in Asda, it all depends on the label and who's making it. I've been doing this with food for 30 years or more so its second nature for me to know what's good, and what isn't. I understand its a bit of a minefield.
How dare you interrupt our muesli thread with this football nonsense What might make the difference with Aubam. is having worked with Klopp previously. Or maybe Klopp has his eye on the next Aubameyang? Quality player no doubt.
I've been cutting out the sugar for the last 3 weeks, going well but I'm using a granola from Lidl at the moment and would like a more natural replacement (as nice as it is). Other than that the only sugar I get is from the booze and that's not ****ing going, mainly red wine though so the lesser of evils. I've cut out artificial sweetners as well and switched to butter instead of spread and full fat milk. Brown rice and brown pasta.
It's got me cooking again which is good. I'm using my Moro books a lot and they are superb and seem to suit this kind of healthy diet. I've also stopped the cheap meats, I buy free range chicken now and cut it up myself for meals, even using the carcass for stock.
