Anybody else going into tomorrow's match confident that we can get a result and do the double over the Chelsea? What a fantastic time to be a Sunderland fan - two great signings, 6th in the league, 4 points below a Champions League spot and a 'good' chance of making that 1 point behind tomorrow night.... Of course the next 7 games are going to be extremely tough - but I've just got a feeling we'll come out of them still inside the top 7, and then we'll really kick on for home. HAWAYA Lets talk about Sess baby, Lets talk about Muntari, Lets talk about Titus Bramble, ...Danny Wellbeck and Phil Bardsley, Lets talk about Sess....... KTF
don't think there is anything to be afraid of, Chelsea are not the team they were last year. We will give any team a game at the SOL and I realy don't expect us to get beat
Yes I am very confident (which probably means we'll get stuffed ) I think playing richardson on the right wing would be a good idea. His work rate and pace kept ashley cole quiet and I thought that was the key to our success at Stamford Bridge.
Reasons not to be confident is that Chealski are a very good side who seem to be getting through their poor patch and will be desperate for revenge for us beating them and to keep their challenge up for top 4 etc. TIn our favour of course we generally are a good side at home, even when we play badly we seem to scrape a draw, unless it is a cup game! We I think will have Sess available for selection, although I am not sure how fit he is after missing training with his former side. So I think I would have played a 5 man midfield anyhow against them, I will take a draw but compared with last season I know we have a chance to win. The Drog seems to be getting over his malaria and scored a cracking goal last weekend, mind he would not have got passed Flash (quick SB sign him up for 2 more years). IMHO Dog has been the best "English' style centre forward in the EPL for several seasons now so keeping him quiet is crucial. SO if somebody marks lampost etc. SB undoubtedly has his tactics worked out we have a reasonable chance. To a certain extent the next seven games will be a good indication of how far we have come, compared to last season (the last/next seven games we have a good chance to pick up more points). We have to play Liverpool, Citeh, Arse, Spuds, we did well at the start of the season and not to lose especially to Arse away will be a tough task, but I expect SB and the boys are relishing it..As you have said if we emerge from that around 6/7th we have avery good chance of ahigh league finish. C'mon
What was once unthinkable is now a distinct possibility.....doing the double over Chelsea! COME ONNNNN!!!
6 pointer!! Richardson on the right is a good call, I would also put Mensah instead of ferdinand. Mensah would keep Drogba quiet imo. Sess should be fit, as he has been training with Olympic sprinters etc during his "strike". No reason why we should think 3 points is out of the question, but would still be happy with a draw.
we will have to be a bit tighter at the back than we were at blackpool thought they had some chances chelsea would take but think we will give them a good game thats for sure as steve would say
Looking forward to a good game, would be happy with a point as I think they'll be up for this to get revenge. Hopefully we'll keep our good record against the top teams and give them a stuffing though!!!
Can't wait for it. I can see some valid points from Sunderpitt but I now like to think anyone will be given a game by us, especially with our defensive record and new signings. Predict Sess to have a worldy and play Gyan in for the winner To the tune of Seasons in the sun: We have joy We have fun We have Stephane Sessegnon Midfield class, form Benin That's why all the sun'lun sing....
Rico on the right wing contained Cole at their place, so I'd be tempted to start him there again. However, you've got to say he looked good behind Gyan at Blackpool. If it's true that neither of the new lads will play, I think I'd have a reprise of Blackpool and hope he can get a goal or two. Definitely worth a punt on a win for us. Won a shed load last season on the first Chelsea game, but didn't predict out last one at all!
