Totally dominant first half that desperately needed a goal to settle the nerves and open Boro up. In the second half, especially after our long-deserved goal, Boro began getting forward more and using their strength in the air to really test our back line. The last 10 minutes were excruciating.
Given results elsewhere and the fact that our next game is away to Liverpool, it was a case of 'points over performance' today so I'm delighted we've taken all 3 and (somehow) kept another clean sheet (best defensive record in the league now).
Lingering concerns over the team though. I thought Davies came in and did very well. Dembele and Wanyama both bossed the midfield but faded badly towards the end - allowing Boro to simply bypass our midfield and get straight into the box. Negredo and De Roon had excellent chances to equalise as a result.
I was extremely impressed with Son. Just as against Sunderland, he was full of running and constantly looking to make things happen. The less said about the other 3 up top the better as far as I'm concerned. Eriksen and Alli again disappointed with their end product/decision making (Alli and Kane spent most of the second half getting in eachother's way) and as others have mentioned, Kane looked a little off the pace today. Hopefully a decent week's recovery between now and Pool will help sharpen these guys up because Klopp will use that game as a 'cup final' to rejuvenate their season. Given the absentees we have, we'll need every single player to bring their A-game if we are to take all 3 points next week.
