CJS - his goals look impressive - and although he seems to be right footed there are a couple of left footed goals there too - which satisfies one of my bugbears!!

Presumably he doesn't score every time - he must miss a few. As a percentage how would you rate his strike to goal rate?

If you see the clip showing his skill and goals, it will look impressive because the clip was made to do just that. When you witness this at games, you can only applaude him, even I do and im not a big fan of his. But he misses so many 1 on 1's and he has missed so many half open goals too where it was easier to score than miss. I would say he needs 7 or 8 chances good chances for every goal. Im not including half chances or shot like 30 yards out which spoons out for a throw for example.

He is a confidence player. The longer he goes without a goal, the worse he gets at converting chances. If he gets a goal, he will only need another 1 or 2 good chances to get a 2nd and 3rd goal. He has scored a few hattricks with us. If your players can provide the service many times throughout games, like we did for him, then he may just surprise some including me.

But the defence in your league would be better and he may not get as many good chances that we gave him. He hasnt impressed when we have come up against the top sides in our league. He looks out of his depth in these games. Also when we have played teams like Barrow and Chesham, he looks like he cant be assed. He is not good at creating chances for himself either. He is surprisingly good in the air though and have scored a fair few headers with us. He is lazy. You may not see this straight away though. When he joined us he ran his heart out but then he stopped that and he became very lazy. This month, you can tell his head wasnt in it and im not surprised that he has gone. Im surprised he has gone to yourselves though and of the fee involved (if true).

Cheers CJS - of course he wouldn't compile a video of his howlers. I've been playing for 30+ years at 5-a-side and Wiltshire league level and if I was video'd every game I played, could probably make a 2-minute tape of clips that would make me look as good as Messi or C Ronaldo!
I'm nowhere near that level of course, but selective editing would give the impression nonetheless.

One thing is that he is now in a position to really make a name for himself - if he wants to!!

We all know that Ricky Lambert made the absolute most of himself on relatively limited ability (in top-class footballing terms), as long as the application is there. Only time will tell with Matty Taylor.
