OK, FIFA have changed the burst ball rules..never knew they had them in the first place. Apparently if a ball bursts during a penalty kick, the penalty must be retaken instead of a drop ball. 1. When was the last time a ball burst during penalty or open play? 2. What rules do you think need changing or introducing?
I think we should change the rule that states FIFA have anything to do with football decisions. Forget all the bribes and bungs, the bottom line is that it would be an absolute doddle to remove dissent and diving from the game but their ridiculous insistence that football must be governed in the same way whether it's a Sunday pub league or the World Cup Final makes them the worst governing body in sport bar none. Sky sports HD super slow motion shot of Rooney calling the ref a "F...... ...." goes unpunished because Bognor Regis Red Lion XI don't have Sky coverage. That's FIFA....
what a crazy rule! never seen that in game and never will, but i guess has to be there just in case! FIFA should step in and get the multi ball system back and 7 subs!!!
Thank goodness for the rule change, was getting concerned with all those burst ball / penalty incidents - i'm glad Fifa is being run so well these days...
Bring back the 10 yard rule and enforce it. Any player who shows dissent to the ref, move the ball forward 10 yards and keep doing it. It was trialled but not enforced. Having to watch rugby league with my northern wife, I must admit that it is the biggest thing football could take from their game. The refs have no dissent an total respect on the decisions; if not they lose ground. It is so simple and the moment fergie or whinged concede a penalty or goal because of this will be the moment the moment the players get told properly they must behave!
Agree 100%. They have the same rule in Rugby Union as well. In both rugby codes the ref is in charge and players at every level respect that.
Dont the referees just have to man up though? I thought the rules were there that you get punished for dissent, ie getting booked (lie Barnard was against Bristol Rovers) but it just never gets enforced, probably cause the refeeres are scared.
Another great rule in Rugby Union is that when you get yellow carded you also get sin-binned for 10 minutes, so the team get punished as well as the player for offences which don't warrant a straight sending-off.
If someone bursts a ball during a penalty, I would suggest the trainer is brought on as soon as possible. Then get someone with a complete set to retake the penalty.
