Maybe we are all a bit underwhelmed by the signing of Smith but the reactions on here are shameful. Can we not give the guy a chance? and get behind our players or are we going to hound him out of the club like Gladwin? Just because we've decided he's **** before even kicking a ball for us.

I think the reaction is disgraceful, whatever happened to the idea of supporting everyone who pulls the hooped shirt on (no matter how good or bad they are) as long as they give their all for the cause.
I've posted on here his record is 1/2 goals to starts when was the last time we signed someone that prolific?

The signings will prove themselves where it matters - on the pitch. They will get my support as a hoops player as soon as they pull on the shirt.
That said, I have the right as a QPR fan of 45+ years to have an opinion on our signings. Goss looks a good prospect; Freeman has to show he can kick-on a level now. If Smith signing happens, he has a lot to prove - he obviously didn't light things up with the Rupert cottagers.

Reece Grego Cox back from injury and scored a hat trick for the U23s. Not sure why we are hanging on to this guy if we're not going to give him a go.

Smith deal stinks of panic buying to me. Saw a lot of him at Leeds and was not impressed at all. Seen more mobile players on a subbuteo board! Will support him now he's one of ours but God knows where ollie is going with this. Polter is 20 times the player

Fulham fan view on Matt smith
I.m.o he is a handful, a good target man, suits rangers style of play, not prolific by any means, and not a great finisher, but he can hold the ball up well, cause a nuisance for defenders, never given a proper chance at Fulham, our passing game does not suit him, is he worth a punt? Yes, but he will score one chance in 5

hes the wrong player we should have brought in omar from grimsby, whatevere are we playing at we would have been better of loaning a youngster from a prem side this rerally isnt the correct way to build a team

Last target striker we had was Bobby Zamora........probably wasn't really wanted but he did score one or two useful goals (even if off sick for periods of time).
Hope Matt Smith will sign as he will be wanting to prove (1) his old employers wrong for selling, (2) he is good enough to be part of the Holloway project and (3) he might just be the person that Conor needs to play alongside

Maybe Omar should be given a bit more time and then looked at in the summer? I know we have a connection (Marcus Bignot) being manager might help get a better deal but I think tried and trusted and used to playing in championship will do us better for now

That's where he could come in handy, to lay it off to others

Helgy always performed well in that role. Maybe Holloway is looking for someone to perform that Zamora/Helguson role. Seems like he could be a nightmare to defend against and whilst he may not score loads, he may prove an important part in link up play and holding the ball up.

If he signs on, he will get my support.

Rumours (and SSN) say Brighton are about to make Glenn Murray a permanent signing for £3m - that's not bad for a 20+ goals a year striker even at 33 yrs old.

..and Fulham are willing to pay Derby £9m to make Chris Martin permanent (depending on all parties agreeing) - that's a lot of money in comparison but he is 6 yrs younger and scoring nearly 1 in 2 according to Wikipedia

Fact is there aren't many bargains out there thanks to Villa and Newcastle... we will have to work on building a fantastic team spirit and developing players in-house... imo it starts with the supporters giving the players a chance... no-one performs to their best while being barracked by their own fans.
3m for Murray isn't bad although he's not a 20 goals a season striker (only twice in his career, might make it a third this season though). 9M for Chris Martin shows how mad it is trying to sign a championship striker. Maybe 1M for Smith is going too bad.

dont be ridiculous frome ,if we are going to be a force we have to sort out our scouting system, brentford can go out and find players like andre gray
who can be sold for ten million after they have scored a shed loads of goals
we go out and get cart horses,,what crap is yeni hes absolutely useless, how can we keep on getting it wrong

For every one Brentford have got right, you can be sure there are plenty that they have got wrong...just sayin

I agree with the comments about Matt Smith holding it up and laying it off for Conor, I said at the weekend that's what we needed for Washington to get goals, let's see.

I wonder why they brought the Burton game forward if they were looking for players to strengthen the team. Shouldn't they have waited to play after the transfers had been done?
