Maureen gracious as ever in defeat saying that the game against Hull was 1-1, when they lost 2-1 "I only saw two goals," said the Portuguese. "It was 1-1." "I saw the Pogba goal and their goal was a fantastic goal - great action, great cross and the guy coming in at the far post. 1-1." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38764869
He's hardly going to agree that it was a stonewall penalty is he? It was one of the most ridiculous penalty decisions ever given. That referee is an utter ****, he's the one who sent Mourinho off for kicking a bottle and spent the whole game, which I was at, assuming the crowd were there to see his ridiculous mincing around and posturing. Mourinho could indeed have said Hull played well and caused us a lot of problems but the fact is the standard of refereeing in this country is at best deplorable.
Moss is a twat, only out twatted by Mike Dean. Maureen's 1-1 comment was the 'twat of the day' moment though.
I'm a neutral on this. I personally don't think it was a penalty. But, as Alex Bruce said last night, by grabbing the shirt Rojo gave Moss a decision to make. The refs have obviously been instructed to clamp down on penalty area shenanigans from set pieces this season. Rojo grabbed the shirt and the guy made the most of it and threw himself over. Yes, Moss got it wrong, but you grab someone's shirt in the area now and they make a convincing enough meal out of it, you're in danger on giving a pen away.
You're dealing with human vagaries. What one ref 'sees' another doesn't... Plus, some are cowards. They turn down obvious penalties rather than have the home crowd on their back. And award highly dubious ones for similar motives.
Man Utd fans have always seen the worst refereeing, though they generally cheer them. You lot must be wetting yourselves over video replays, how many off-side goals have you been given this year?
The ref just stands with a tombola in the centre circle full of pieces of paper saying things like 'home team corner' and gives decisions based on what is pulled out.
Yep and some will be given and some won't. If that was at the other end then you could bet your life Jose would have counted it.
Just bring in video replays on contentious decisions FFS. I'd rather games get extended by an extra 5 minutes than get decided by a refereeing error.
Not sure about this. It's not the extra 5 mins I'm bothered about. It's the controversy I want to keep. I think the game would become a little bit more sterile and dull without the contentious decisions. They've been a part and parcel of the game for over a century. **** happens.
I think there's a case for it with Penalty decisions. I'd hate to see every single decision being contested, but I reckon it would work dubious decisions were referred to a panel, a bit like they do in cricket. Part of me worries though that it would make the game convoluted.
You would say that as a Utd fan seeing as you've had decades of favourable decisions In all honesty though, I tend to agree. The controversies actually make the game quite entertaining and lively. For every **** decision your team gets, you usually get a few going your way to balance it out. It's not perfect, but as I said, I'd worry that too much TV replay decision making would make the game convoluted.
Thought this thread needed a bump seeing as Maureen is on the cusp of another meltdown. First couple of pages are funny too, seeing HIAG dig his own grave over Edit-Gate
