Phil Buckingham(not usually far off the mark with his observations) on twitter claiming that by the time the window shuts MS will have brought 8/10 new players in, the most a PL team has ever brought in in the January window

He didn't say that. The key is the punctuation at the end of his tweet.

I doubt MS wanted Jake or Snodders to leave, but I don't think he will feel it is a fatal move to his and our hopes of survival. Jake was good, but not irreplaceable. Snodders will be missed, but he doesn't like working back and defending, and MS seems to want to play this high energy pressing game, which really doesn't suit Snodders.

At the end of the day with Jake and Snodders in the team we weren't getting the result needed, so maybe a completely new approach might turn out to be more effective. It will be interesting to see how things develop.
I hear what you are saying John, I don't think not getting the results needed was down to Snoddy, the saving grace is that we are still in touch with the relegation pack and not cast adrift due to the team spirit and Snoddy's goals and set pieces, priceless to us, now disappearing thro the exit door. Not getting results has been the same old, recently creating loads of scoring chances and not being able to put the ball in back of the net, together with some dismal defending.

I am still gutted and disappointed re. Snoddy, with Rehab for allowing this mess to happen, and also with Snodds, I was hoping that someone/senior players left, would persuade him to see the season fight out, and then go with our blessings in the summer if he wanted. I guess that the danger for him is an injury could then scupper that plan and miss out on any big deal, we have seen it before with players stalling on deals.

We have no option than to trust Marco, we sure as hell don't trust Rehab. He doesn't look like a "yes man" to me unless he has got a good poker face. I suppose in a weeks time, I'll see if I am still really angry or just a bit miffed. Another thing that irks, I remember when Burnley used to buy our cast offs from us, now they are after taking our best players, it's a joke how clubs have developed or not.

That last line is a bit ridiculous. There are few clubs (Swansea the same, were Bournemouth bottom division?) that have journeyed so far this century.

'Don't slag teachers off.' In Ull??? In the 21st Century? Are you serious? I currently have various young blood-relatives still living in Ull, whose future, unfortunately, depends upon YOU and your peers. I'm distressed to say I'm not even slightly confident for their future there, and I genuinely hope I can find some way to help them escape to reality. Education is a wonderful thing and, believe me, people like you are not on the 'plus' side of this highly nonlinear equation.
And don't even think about thanking me for pointing out your error; just keep making the same error, forever. Then, one day, you may get on to the Hull City Council. Alongside Garragher. Aaaaawesome.
And don't EVER try to make jokes about the Blitz -- that's waaay beyond bad manners, sonny. I'm sure that many grown-up posters on here lost family members -- fathers, brothers, sons, uncles, granddads, etc. -- during that dreadful time.
You've got a lot of growing up to do, before you should even think about trying to present yourself as a grown-up, kiddo. Now get back to correcting your pupils' spelling errors, if, of course, you can ... IF you agree that spelling and grammar are actually important in the grown-up world.

So, without knowing who I am or having no relative experience about how I go about my professional life, you've decided I'm not of benefit to the education system in this city; pretty much writing me, my colleagues and everybody associated with education in Hull off as useless. Prick. Come and work a week in a Hull school, try and teach a literacy lesson to a room full of kids that can barely speak English. Try explaining to a Polish lad about to take his SATS what syntax is. Try and explain to one child why another's parents don't wash their kids. Try working towards a 90% ARE when half the children are refugees and others are SEN. You wouldn't last 5 seconds and I don't have to know you to know that, if what you're like on here is anything like your actual personality then it's a given. The plus side of education? Is that people like you have been phased out of the education system to make way for people who can actually make a difference. Granted, there might be some schools struggling, but I bet it's not down to a lack of effort from the staff.

You might have your little physics thing (think that was you), big deal, it took me 3 years to learn physics. Not all of it, but the bits I wanted. It's not hard. Sadly.

I won't thank you for correcting me, I knew it was wrong as soon as I'd posted, I'm just not that much of a knob that I care if some bloke I'll never meet corrects it. It doesn't matter on here. If you go through life correcting others and you aren't a teacher, you're a ****. By default. You're allowed to make mistakes, it's human. If you can recognise your mistake, even better. But to correct other people and claim you're teaching them a lesson is just arrogance, nobody asked you to so keep your beak out.

As for jokes, I didn't make any jokes. I genuinely thought you were about 90. Ish.

Lots of hysteria going on around here, with a lot of it clouded by the hatred of the owners.

So if Snods is really that good, why isn't he going to Chelsea or Man Utd ? or even to the next level down like the Evertons or Southampton ?

Don't get me wrong I love his delivery from set pieces, but his all round play is average at best and he's certainly not in the mould that Marco Silva is looking for us to play, so maybe that's why he is only attracting interest from the likes of Burnley and Boro.

But he is one of our best players, so will be a big loss to us, but that may be mitigated by what happens in the next 5 days.

I wasn't saying Snoddy was the reason it was not working, just generally as a team we just weren't getting the result needed. So maybe a new approach might prove to be more effective. But I agree with the general sentiment of your post.

Indeed. As far as we're aware the only interest is from 2 clubs promoted with us last season and another desperate to replace their own want away attacking midfielder / set-piece specialist. It's almost as if other clubs are put off by something...

it's due to age
the top teams will only sign older players if they are exceptional

I think the big difference between the bottom teams and the mid-table teams is wages. If we paid our top ten an extra £10k per week and our next ten an extra £5k per week I think we would hold on to most of our better players. This would cost us about £8m per year. That is very little compared to what a Premier League club can get.

Here, here, well said. So, you only work towards 90% ARE in your School, I'll have to have a word with our HT!! (Only joking.)

Hmmm, I wonder what it could be!! Could it be that he's asking for ridiculous amounts of wages! Could it be that he has dodgy knees and who knows how long he will last! Could it be that his insistence of a 4 year contract knowing about his Knee injury is putting a lot of people off! A lot more to this then people would like to believe
