Here we are in the 4th week of a transfer window and we announce.... Josh(potential] and Oriel (best season so far) have signed new contracts.. Certainly good news, but they could have signed in the last few months before the window opened. Is this 'window' dressing within the transfer window, (are you pacified?), dreamt up by the same marketeer that also dreamt up the bloody awful 'Did it our Way' sodding song that kills the atmosphere just before kickoff, or am I just a cynical old sod who buys 2 season tickets every year whilst someone somewhere is creaming it off.. Answers please to Candlewick Green, (please note not Trumpton), Somewhere LEFT Behind, In a world that was more honest. SO4everxx
Well didn't someone on here say that Sims had signed a new deal about a month ago but was unsure when they were going to announce it? If that is true then there is probably some truth in what you are saying, but that is hardly surprising it is pretty basic PR in my eyes. We have done it pretty regularly with breaking bad news all in quite a short time frame and then only releasing good news afterwards. So it probably is slightly cynical but it also is probably the way of the footballing world nowadays
Yep with beefy on this. Common sense - get the bad news out of the way, then bring us the good news. Like the age old saying. "Do you want the good news first or he bad news?" Most people pick the bad news first.
If we get to the final, that is extra revenue, and extra pressure on a currently depleted squad. If we don't, Les may well consider us covered. Don't shoot the messenger.
Not cynical I think depressing potentially. Bare bones minimum is an extra body at CB and will need to hit the ground running to put us in the same position as before fonte handed in his request. An acceptable window would be a striker to fill in for Austin, which if he hits the ground running will put us in a similar position to before his injury. With these 2 signings we will be maintaining the squad, no more. What I expect is a CB, non-spectacular, which imo is not a good window for a team with few goals.
Its just what I think. Les will be keeping a close eye on Jack, hoping he'll keep the angry mob from his door.
