Agree. Given that democracy has spoken and he was legitimately elected in, they come across as spoilt kids who didn't get what they wanted so are throwing a big strop. Still bizarre the person with the most votes is not being sworn in today but I guess that is the system they have chosen.

Dave, I always say to my friends who go on about Trump. What do actually know about US politics? What do you know about the guy that works in Pittsburgh?
The most us Brits know about the US is a dirty weekend in New York or a trip to Disneyland yet so many of us claim that Donald Trump is bad yet Obama is great!

These are a true facts:
Did you know that Trump Spoke about a girls 'pu**y' ?
Did you know that every day that Obama has been in office (8 years) he bombed the middle East?

I am not a Trump fan and agree he does say stupid things but saying and doing are completely different. :emoticon-0148-yes:

I wouldn't claim to be an expert on US politics, although I do object to what the guy just said about the first US elections in 1793 being a beacon of democracy to the world...first elections in the UK were in 1708. I guess you are right Ellers, if he ends up being a loud mouth who is all talk but no action, he will do little harm...but won't this leave many in the US feeling as if they were conned into electing him?

I may be a bit unrealistic here, but I want our leaders to sound like statesmen and the type of person I trust to make decisions of life and death on a daily basis, not someone who takes cheap shots at their enemies, and appears to bully those weaker than themselves. Admittedly, I have watched West Wing far to many times, and anyone who doesn't match up to Jed Bartlett won't be good enough for me.

This is basically what I said yesterday in that EU criminals can enter and work here. I then got the usual 'remoaners' either changing the point or coming up with something completely different.
I have learned from this thread that you have a few that won't accept any counter argument. Shame but hey ho.
Agreed. You never listen to me.

Plus referring to yourself as 'the best country on earth' is arrogant. They're crap at football and their bacon is rubbish.

Yeah all that crap is indoctrinated into them as kids. It's a nice country America but it does have many faults (and I'm not talking San Andreas).

I am listening to him saying 'America first', I bet many people are cringing.

They don't have money for new roads and buildings/airports. That has been a problem for some time now. He is talking carp there.

Now he's quoted Psalm 133;

'How good and pleasant it is when God's people live in unity together.' The Mexicans desperate to get into the USA should be glad to hear that...no need for a wall then.

Lovely listening to BBC coverage with two Brits and one yank...the Brits keep on cutting the American out as he makes weird pro American comments.

A member of the public being interviewed on the BBC;

'I like the fact he said it's all about US...and he is one of US...'

There, in one sentence is how Trump won imo. He managed to convince people he was 'one of them' despite being filthy rich, and then told people he would make their lives better because they were more important than everyone else.

Typical SKY/BBC and other news outlets showing that. Just been watching Sky going to places where there aren't many people. Always showing or saying negative things. People forget that Obama had demonstrations as well but that was not shown. I wonder why?
All those muppets smashing windows and tipping bins over has nothing to do with Trump. How could smashing a toyshop window be connected to Trump? I hope the police go in heavy and crack a few heads as they are just vandals. muppets

Watching the BBC coverage was torture. Pathetic whining and moaning that their beloved Obama has gone.
It was fantastic to have a first black President and a truly historic event. However, Obama has presided over a poor presidency, with racial tension at an all time high. He also has a clear dislike for this country and I believe Trump could be a much better ally for us (so long as he doesn't start world war 3!!).

Col I have a few American friends and most think Obama is a muppet who was not a very good President.
Once again SKY go straight over to a handful of protestors and interviewing them while I want to watch the new Presidental ceremony. Typical Impartial Kay Burley concentrating more on the demonstrators.

The whole thing was far too religion orientated for me.
