I really hope we can sort the Fonte situation out. Otherwise one of Maya/Virgil is going to have to play every game leading up to the semi final.

Yep. And I know Leicester won't beat Chelsea but if they did ....
We should sign another CB straightaway, and then sort out the Fonte situation. Worst case scenario, if Fonte doesn't go, we can start using Yoshida as a striker.
It would be quite nice if we could get those first two games snowed off. Then all six could be played after we've hopefully tried to deal with our issues in the transfer window.
(Although that could result in a bit of a fixture pile-up later in the season, thereby bringing everyone's favourite topic of rotation back onto the table...)
Season ticket holder since I was 10 so 14 yrs. Also been to 70%+ of away games in the past 5 yrs. Also watch a lot of the youth matches as well. Hence why I know a fair bit about the youth.
But yeah I just do it all to look clever. I find it sad just because I said the cups don't excite me as much as others, my support for Saints is called into question.

Bit harsh mate. Pretty sure he's a STH.
Just modern football for you, where most fans prefer league position over a trophy. Shame though.
Personally I'd take a cup over any league position bar first, but that's just me.

I agree, however I want to quash the recent Pelle calls. Last season Pelle was generally poor. He still came out with a few goals as he always did because he is the sort that does that but he went on long spells without goals. His game last year was not great and we played much better (including our end of season run) when he didn't play. I remember most people saying that he wouldn't start much the following season and when the rumours about him leaving came, it was understood. Mane then left. I didn't enter the season thinking we'd miss Pelle. I can say that we have missed him, or his goals, or his presence, or something, but it was 100% understandable why he went and at the time didn't seem an issue. Mane wasn't great last year, but had enough moments to add his goals and get us results.
What has happened is that we haven't clicked in our play (and partly a more conservative style of play), with no-one grabbing the goals. The main difference has been that white thing going in the net. It isn't as enjoyable because it hasn't quite flowed, but I am prepared to keep faith with Puel, hope the board get him a couple of new players and let's see what he does over the next four months and the first three months of next season.
Oh I agree. I'd be pretty amazed if we got 7th. But then I never saw us getting 6th last season from where we were after Norwich, and no doubt there are some Saints fans out there who still think it is possible. (But surely no-one can argue that 6th is possible).
And yeah, at the other end of the table, there are still some people getting 15th or 16th mixed up with 18th, in my opinion. Sunderland and Swansea conceded a combined seven goals today at home. We probably only need to win three of our last SEVENTEEN games, when you throw in draws. Maybe four.
I don't really see why we need to wait for his move to be confirmed. (As suggested by SW itk)
He's not going to be first choice next season anyway so let's just get someone in.
Yep i agree.puel is doing what he can with the players he has. But ijust think that some of the aspects of the tactics are blunting our attack and its having an effect on the players in my opinion
Maybe don't pick the Norwich replay though. If there's one game where few fans will shed a tear if we lose...
We are lacking a target man option atm in the Rickie/Pelle mould just to mix things up a bit.

But WHO is a good signing for a decent price (and salary) without being a knee-jerk reaction? I'm disappointed but I know we can play better, however I'm worried that we'll buy someone at an inflated price and they won't work - then what will you all be saying?
Anyone seriously talking about relegation is clearly insane. We will finish lower mid-table, which is what many of us predicted.
My personal opinion was to prioritise the cups this season, which is why I was annoyed after the Europa campaign debacle.
My biggest gripe/frustration is that we are so boring to watch. Just wish chazza hadn't gotten injured, as his goals put a smile on my face. Really not enjoying this season at all after the highs of last year.

Is Jay Rod our next highest league goal scorer? If so he should be the focal point of attack for every match for me until we bring in some reinforcements. Keep a consistent spine.
