Who says I am / was joking ? I am an eternal pessimist , but even I did not think we would be in this position at this stage of the season . Worrying times , and NO , I'm not joking !
Only really care about the cups now. Unless we fall to 16th or 17th, I don't really care about the league.
Yes. Let's sensibly critique our awful strike force. It's like watching a toddler try to kill a bear by whacking it with a piece of grass.
Bad keeping, was nowhere near the corner. Bad attacking the whole game, think our tactics haven't helped us at all. Pretty sure the team aren't as fit as previous seasons despite the rotation. No one taking responsibility up front without Austin. Same ****, different day.
I don't particularly care that we've worked hard, dominated possession, and been the better side. We've had a grand total of two shots on target, and the score was 0-0. You can't really complain at having a point (minimum) taken from you, from there. Exactly the same as Everton. We're just burning games (risking slipping down the table) until the board pull their finger out and sign some attacking players.
Players working hard, 59% possession with 15 attempts + lots of crosses whistling through but only two on target. Only needs a silly challenge by Romeu (he doesn't make many) and Forster moving the wrong way and there we go, another frustrating afternoon against a pub team
Romeu gave away a free kick 20-25 yards out in the middle of the goal. Barton hit it through the scattered wall, Forster wrong-footed as the ball goes in close to his starting position. Not to blame exactly but it doesn't make him look very good.
If we're being honest, our issues began before Charlie got injured. Shock horror, we're actually attacking now that we have to. Same as Hull away.
Finally have a proper striker up front...think we should have really gone for it by pairing Virgil with Yoshida, though. Using one of them as a CB is too defensive.
No problem with that. Our strike force isn't scoring enough. I have no issue with that being pointed out, however I suspect come the final whistle all hell will let loose as usual. It would be really nice if it didn't and some sensible conversations were held. We haven't been bad today, just lacked a cutting edge. People will moan at the manager, but he needs a striker and maybe a creative midfielder.
I'm still high from the cup win, and Burnley are a good side at home so not too disappointed BUT losing 4 in a row in the PL is certainly worrying and something needs to be addressed (pls sign a striker pls)
