Did the same. Watched some if it back and was more impressed. For one I realised before the goal, Pawel won the ball back wide right near the half way line himself as Reading tried to play it out of their defence, played a neat one two with Sylla as he raced back up the right wing before looking up and found Manning who very deftly played in Mackie. A great goal and we nearly had more from down that right side.
I have read many posts from deluded Reading fans that have been saying we played long ball and were cr2p? Sorry but the one thing I cannot accuse Hollow of is a long ball game. Sometimes I wished he reverted to it when were we losing but credit to him he has stuck by his guns and may well prove me wrong. No we weren't World beaters but the time put a shift in. Maybe Reading need a plan B because they had 600 odd passes to our 200 and we won.
They had 72% possession but only 9 attempts on goal, whereas we had 16 attempts with only 28% possession.......it's the quality of what you do with possession that counts...... They had the ball for roughly 65 minutes, what equates to an attempt on goal every 7 minutes, whereas we had an attempt on goal every 1 1/2 minutes we had possession.......that's very rough but it gets the point over, they fannied about moving the ball sideways and backwards trying to open us up, whereas we countered swiftly and created chances without ever having to revert to route 1 tactics....... Apart from the header that hit the bar and the near miss late in 2nd half i don't recall Smithies being too troubled for a side sitting top 3 in the league....
Not seen much about Luongo's performance so as one of his fiercest critics this season I'm going to eat a large slice of eat humble pie and say that he was fantastic last night. I lost count of the times he won the ball or intercepted a Reading pass and for once he provided the midfield pivot that has been desperately needed. Well played Massimo and long may that style last.
Two years running we win 1-0 at Reading on a Thursday night. There ends the comparison! Last season was possibly the worst match to have been shown live on television. Last night we were good to watch & fully deserving of our win!
Can't believe he will be. Furlong and Woz seem to have developed an understanding on that right side pretty quickly. Giving Reading big problems
Here are some posts from a Reading forum QPR were **** and we didn't have the brains to unpick their disciplined shape. Football is supposed to be exciting and this is absolute **** and let's be honest, it has been all year. It's luck that we're third, this manager has to go. (I wish we were lucky enough to be 3rd) Mackie is a cpunt And my favourite IF we had played better we COULD'VE won that game.
Ah bless. I read one quote that said all we did was 'play long ball'. Another said we didn't deserve to win? I keep saying it. Reading fans are not proper football fans they are a bunch of deluded idiots that only go if the team does well. I couldn't believe how empty the stadium was for a team 3rd in the league? Funny plastic club. I have had so many run-ins with Reading fans over the R's thing. They actually believe it's their chant. Been to Reading a few times a few years back and never did they sing 'Come on You R's' Like the rest of the club it's a manufactured thing. Seriously the whole club is soulless and the only time you hear a Reading fan is when they win. The rest of the time it's tumbleweed.
This, Col, is absolutely never going to happen. Ollie might be on the verge of being mad, but he is not stupid.
Tchaaaa. Pawel has been doing very well going forward down the right with good support from Perch too. Furlong did well last night especially when getting forward, but most of Reading's best attacks were coming down our right side with Furlong, not surpringly in his 1st game back getting caught out of position once or twice. A difficult but welcome hard choice for Holloway imo.
Goldhawk Van den Berg has been getting so much cr2p today from the delusional Reading Fans. They said he was the worst player?
TBF it was a crap tweet which should have been retracted as soon as he had seen the action replay on the big screen inside the stadium or the Sky highlights once he'd got home. Did the idiot tweet anything else which actually reflected the fact that Rangers murdered his team and might have scored five or six in spite of the fact they had only 28% possession.
Think you have him confused with Roy Beerens on the left. Van den Berg played centre back last night. Beerens had a good game and delivered lots of good crosses. Furlong did well but let's not twist the facts to much, he struggled with Beerens. But he will only get better, and he's brave, loved how he tackled the physically stronger Meite when he came on.
Hopefully our tight stingy defensive display will continue in our next home game against Fulham. After Rotherham with a -30 GD, we still share the next worst -11 GD with Cardiff, Blackburn and Wigan. Would be nice to do the double over them and notch up our 4th league win on the trot.
