Always seemed a nice enough guy, was just unlucky to preside over one of the worst era's of English football, not a great talent pool, no European club football at that time due to the ban didn't help.

Can never forgive him for picking Carlton Palmer for the national team though, he was useless.

in the list of players you could say there was about 5 or 6 who were charasmitic . the rest above average ? "b" country standard.. I would put "that squad " down the list from todays which is not so hot either

That is the most idiotic statement I've read on Not606. So useless that he took Watford from Div.4 to Div.1 in 5 seasons, then from Div.3 to the Premier League in 3 seasons, took Villa back in his first season and then finished runners-up in his first season back at the top level - pretty useless eh?

Nice enough? You obviously never met him...
And you call people idiotic??

Shearer and others were injured for long periods during his tenure. And none of those other illustrious names (<doh>) were at their peaks. Vic is right, I'm afraid.

****in old news mate?.. and they were pretty much all better than what we have now!

His failure to take us to the 94 world cup was disgraceful.. simple as that!
