Fair enough, but look at it this way. If a fight breaks out, people fall over seating and a kid gets hurt. The police won't care who started it, whoever was fighting would be punished.

A pro Liverpool song, being a Liverpool song. Just not a song that is sang in St Mary's often.

I agree with that... it wasn't actually THAT close to coming to blows... the guy was about 6/7 rows behind me... maybe I didn't word it well. It got very heated though and police obviously realised he was the problem, as I was left alone to watch the game while they had a 'chat' with him.

But if you're suggesting I shouldn't sing a song in case of causing a mass brawl then I'd suggest that's a bit silly at best and hyperbole at worst.

We'll have to agree to disagree mate <ok>

Nope, didn't hear it. Only thing I heard about Liverpool was 'Win **** all' a play on Li-ver-pool

Fair enough, shows the acoustics of the ground when someone 2 blocks from me didn't hear it but someone in Kingsland/Northam did!

As for 'win **** all', never really understood that one. I mean, it's not like we're trophy laden is it? <laugh>

As for the thread dilemma spoke about last night.

Why doesn't a mod alter the title and we'll use this for the 2nd leg too?

Apologies, I just work in a sector that goes with worst case scenario, especially how the HSE are these days.

No need to apologise pal <ok>

Looking back I should have been clearer... I wrote 'nearly had a fight' which isn't strictly true but along those lines if that makes sense.

The things he said which I haven't posted were horrendous though, and would make any decent persons blood boil imo.

Like LTL says... a good discussion <cheers>

I'm with LL on this one.

Those that remember football in the late 70s-80s will know what i am on about. Look around from your comfy seat in an all seater stadium and realise we actually have a good chance of leaving the ground unhurt because of the 96. Any chants from any fan against the 96 is disgusting in my view.

i think we should have safe standing areas.
They could make it really safe if they allow home and away fans in the same safe standing bit too and everyone singing whatever they want

United fans have sang it for a lot longer than the Suarez incident I believe... it got more common after that though.

It started in Itchen North... loud enough for me to hear clearly in block 42 before the Pool fans started booing them. Then people in the Northam joined in, it was fairly loud... though not sure if it would have been heard in other parts of ground. I'd estimate there was at LEAST a couple of hundred singing it in the Northam alone.

I was in block 42 too and there were a fair few singing it. Disgraceful but (at least from where I was) we outsang them and hopefully that's what the Liverpool fans heard.

After several viewings of the highlights, the chip over Karius after the cross from Long is actually the worst miss of all. Karius came at him with both feet off the ground, all Redmond had to do was sidefoot the ball along the ground under him. Easy to say in hindsight I know, but part of being a successful striker is instinctively knowing your best option, and Nathan needs to practice the split-second decision-making.

Hypothetical, had that chip crept in under the bar it would have gone viral, the fact there were two players on the line, either may have blocked a low shot.

To be honest we have had a belly full of pessimism after the recent happenings, we just don't need more of it having just played what was probably the best performance for months, give us break to enjoy it before you start with the negative waves again, please.
If everyone else expressed it, why did you feel the need to say it as well?

Wow, are you patronising at all?? Do the rest of the board - or whatever portion you refer to as 'we' - know you've taken on the mantle of collective spokesman for them? I think I missed the vote. My point is that I wasn’t negative, and that my comment was neutral at worst – what makes you think I’m not enjoying it also? I responded to a comment before the end of the game so those around the club hadn’t expressed anything yet. And as an aside I’d like to see you find any post of mine that radiates negative waves, so even if my regret-tinged ‘well done’ post was construed as such by the sensitivity police, I certainly wasn’t repeating any offence.

I know there will always be a minority of scumbag fans about with any club but I feel as we have become more successful especially in the last two years that they have come out of the woodwork a little more

As usual I was generalising about the pessimistic posts, yours was just a convenient post to use as a response, sorry if you chose to take it personally, but I still stick with what I said, plenty of time to be miserable, spoiling what was a temporary bit of euphoria is symptomatic of a poor attitude.
