Lol I blame my Dad's mate and Mick Channon/Kevin Keegan/Alan Ball. WOW did we really have those players in the same team?!!
Born in Southampton and got out at earliest opportunity. It was a ****hole in the late 50's/early 60's thanks in part to the Lufwaffe. My allegiance to the team didn't go with me. I don't know about this luvvie, but a lot of my mates who are genuinely scouse and Red find the presence of the "Essex Reds" (for eg) pretty annoying. In my experience they are always the gobshite fans. But then that's the price you pay for being a global brand, as Manc Man U fans know. Oddly, I can't recall meting many glory hunting Saints fans!
Don't know about this glory hunters tag, I imagine there are some who just go along with whoever is winning at the time and I'm sure Man City have gained some fans (not many though). Personally I don't come from a football family, I started watching football and of course at that time Liverpool caught my eye and I started following them 35 years later I'm still doing that and no ****er is going to talk me into supporting Cardiff because they are closest to me. Once a club is in your heart there's no turning back.
I said when Klopp joined that it would benefit Lallana hugely. He played his best football for us under Poch and they both play a similar style.
I've moved on from Lallana....I still snear if he scores for Liverpool, but pleased if he does well for England (when I regard him as 'made in Southampton')....so I guess I'm half way there. Never felt the urge to boo anyone.....we should concentrate on cheering Saints tonight.
I live in Mallorca but my favourite La Liga team is Athletic Bilbao. Where have the new Manchester City fans come from? West Yorkshire maybe as it is not cool to support the other lot if you are from Leeds, and as Leeds have been so abject and "fans" want to support a successful team, City would no doubt be the choice of team.
Can't really disagree with anything Klopp said there tbh. Apart from the bit about Saints fans one day wishing the little twat well. That won't happen.
I suppose some people must decide to select a team, but to most it is surely a bolt from the blue. A nine-year-old sees some team wins three nil and virtually never win again, but that small child is lost. I'm sure we can remember that moment we woke up and thought, 'Bugger, I'm a Saints' fan.'
Always liked Lallana!! And always will so no hard feelings against him. What Klopp has said in the report about wanting to get out of the comfort zone must be true for many employees who want to challenge themselves by applying for a more senior job, or wanting to work for themselves. The so-called comfort zone can rot the inner being.
I only support Saints for the constant success and progress. I have not made up[ my mind who I'll support next season.
I doubt very much that Lallana wanted to stretch himself...he left for the money and the kudos. Probably already thought he was the bees' knees.
I used to jokingly say (especially in the direst times) that I support Saints because I am a pot hunter....I'm still waiting.
