I actually think the loss for the chavs is the best thing for them. Don't have to worry about any records anymore and can just concentrate on playing.
They wouldn't have worried about the record. I thought quite rightly they played a defensive game to get at least a point. Spurs played exactly the same system as them - with 3 cds at the back to neutralise them. Wanyama played a blinder and eriksen had one of his more effective games.

Leicester tend to raise their game against the big boys. City got whipped and I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea got the same.

Preferred the draw but never mind.

Was speaking today that chelsea next 5 games looks horrible.

Spurs away
Leicester away
Hull home
liverpool away
arsenal home

hull youd bank on them winning and obviously lost v Spurs. Very easily lose v Leicester, odd team but still dangerous at home. Same v us... and Arsenal at home youd think is a win but depends what Arsenal turn up. Could come out of those 5 games with only 3 or 4 points

This is why I can't understand how we can be discussing who the battle will be between for certain positions!?

Look at those next 4 games. We are half way through and things change RAPIDLY in this league.

Crazy that some of us think that the league will finish in the current positions. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th places have changed so many times in the last few weeks. 6th is close yet they were 10 points away not so long ago.

Any dropped points from a draw or a defeat could mean dropping several places.

But all totally irrelevant according to klopp. He keeps saying just try win the game in front of us and focus on performance and that table will be What it will be.

Surely who is fit and what team we have to put together as the cup semi occurs is more important?

The coming 10 days will have a very important bearing on the rest of our season. Will we still be in the EFL tie if Klopp plays the youngsters, which he surely has to? Will we remain second in the table after next Premiership weekend? We now have to win at OT. A draw will mean city or Spurs overtaking us with a win.

We have to keep winning just to maintain our position.

Our fixtures are not easy either, we have to beat Chelsea and get at least a point at OT but a win there would be superb. Going to be interesting.
Yep. The paradox is that beating Chelsea and drawing at OT may not be sufficient for us to remain second but benefit Spurs and City who could leapfrog us with 2 wins. However we can't worry about them. If each of the top 6 rivals beat or draw against Chelsea, they could be reeled in by the end of the season.

We just have to keep going, it's been a superb season so far and the progress we've made is stunning. Klopp is brilliant and this is just the start of his era.

Yes i would have to agree with that.

the cup semi and 3rd round is important for us but equally then the rest of january where the second leg and a few eague matches are crammed in is also important and i think you are alluding to the fact we could use up our players before those league matches if not careful.

IMO however what we get at old trafford is only what we will deserve on the day and same for utd. it will be a big game. Its what i suppose the media are now calling a top 6 clash and eally anything could occur.

In the end... its only 3 points but it is a 3 points utd cannot earn if we win and vice versa

no i'd be delighted with 4 from 6 in those two games that would be really excellent and i'd ignore what others do.

the block of 4 games coming is

Man Utd A
Swansea H
Chelsea H
Hull A

If we could manage 10 out of 12 there my god that is marvellous return. the next 4 are just as hard BTW..... and then the 4 after that.

So really... ignoring what others do or don't do we know ourselves that we need to take about 8 points min from these games. If we drew v the top teams and beat the other two well I'd be happy with that. If we won 3 and lost one i'd be happy.

The real key is our own performance as we miss players through international duty and injury and how we keep our form.

I suppose we are all on tender hooks waiting for coutinho.

hope so. he gives us all hope but most of all i just feel that where rogers got carried away with himself and got big headed klopp has seen it all before and will not only be an enthusiastic coach but also a demanding one with a steady hand on the tiller.

I have hope our performance levels won't drop off but thats also down to the players and their availability. (and why i think many want a signing or two this window)

I think you're right a signing or two wouldn't hurt if we have players identified.

We're only half way through the season and any of the top 6 could still win the thing.

The top 6 have broken away from the rest of the league though, but which positions they'll all finish in is impossible to predict with any degree of certainty at this point.

I see astro is still making posts that will no doubt form part of posters sigs next season though <laugh>

Our lack of fit players and Mane leaving will cost us in the big games this month. United are on form and Chelsea will be back next game I have no doubt. We could find ourselves 10 points behind them by Feb. <ok>

I agree to an extent. If the chavs don't win it they will be 2nd I feel.
A big factor is when European football starts up again, I feel the usual Arsenal collapse will occur and city may be more interested in Europe than the league, plus Europa for utd and tottenham

There's umpteen variables mate, from the ACON and European football to injuries, form and the transfer window.

Chelsea have had an air of invincibility about them of late, but that was smashed last night. It's game on for the top 6.

We shouldn't underestimate the toll that European matches take on the teams. Because of this, the top 2 will be Chelsea and LFC (fingers crossed). Among the others, I am afraid that the red mancs are currently the best equipped for their Thursday matches. Their second string is as good as any. Those who say they are out of it are burying their heads in the sand.
