but we have a manager with a win % at Olympiacos of almost 80%.. I dont think he will spunk it on players not to get a tune out of them.

I'm not embarking on a 40 page load of old bollocks. I have my opinion and you have yours. I'd prefer the money to try and build a saleable asset and try and break into the next mini league. You have your cup glory, relegation and likely double relegation as we'll lose most the playing staff. A struggling Championship team isn't an attractive proposition for investors.
My mate who's a Wigan Athletic fan would happily trade the FA Cup win for a PL place - He reckons it has put them back 20 years.
No reason cash can't build glory at a later date. PL stability is the priority, I'm sure if you asked any sane chairman (exclude ours) they would want to remain tapped into this PL revenue stream.
It's a bit like Liverpool resting players in their CL tie against Real Madrid so that they... could qualify for CL the following year. Which they didn't. The reason clubs exist is to win silverware, but we want to throw away a very good opportunity to win something to maybe, possibly, potentially stay up in the PL for a second season where anything could happen including going down anyway?

Nah, he should treat the 3 cup games as an opportunity to experiment with the squad and formation. Nothing at risk they are free hits and a distraction from what really matters.
