If we could get 7 million for Fernandez , I'd grab it too ....that's a big if though .....whereas Fernandez might go on a roll playing with VDH or Mawson and we could stop the bleeding of over 3 goals , on average , a game for the last 7 games ...of which Fernandez didn't play any .

The truth is we should have been lining up one of our players to take on the leadership role in defence during the summer. I think Fed could do it. You don't get to be an Argentinian international by being crap. I think he's probably low on confidence and needs someone to put trust in him. I'd give him that chance. Couldn't do any worse. Tell him to stand up and be the leader - bit like Koscielny who had his crap start.
Also for now I'd go 5-3-2 to shore up things with Naughton and Kingsley as our wing backs and Cork and Leon in front of the back 3 CBs. But maybe that's a risk too far.
Either way it's apparent we have so many holes in our squad that we need to plug them with a whole wodge of cash. But will we choose wisely? Depends who has the final say on transfers I guess

We were talking yesterday, and also wondered whether or not we should play 3 CBs against Palace....

Our players have forgotten the basics of their game as they've been untaught by the last two coaches and Monks mates imo.

Basics are learned through repetition, repetition, repetition, on the training paddock, basics like ball skills, positioning, awareness and match play. It is now evident that these basics have been lost through poor coaching over a season and a half, at least.

We've heard grumblings from the players about training for a few seasons now but I put this down to them being 'affected'. It turns out their gripes may well have been legitimate and justified.

Basic skills have been eroded since Monks mates got their claws into the team and has contuned since then. Players individually have lost their muscle memory, automon responses to risk and danger. Players have to think about what they are doing as nothing is automatic to them any more. This slows their reaction time and ability to read and respond to any given situation, mistakes creep in, goals are conceded, confidence goes and games are easily lost. We've all witnessed this.

This is what's happened, imo, for the last season and more players skills have been eroded, their basic footballing skills washed away and under the last two coaches in particular the team has finally caved in on it self as its rotting foundations cant support it any more.

Its going to take time to repair our broken players and rebuild the team, time we don't have so unless Clement comes with a bunch of battle hardened loanees; because no player is going to want to come here otherwise, in tow then I don't think he'll have the time to turn things around and save us from the inevitable drop. 11 games ago he'd have had the time to do something, now he doesn't. what a waste of 11 games. The players Clement has inherited were good enough to stay in the prem 11 games ago, now they are utterly lost.

Last paragraph and especially the last 2 lines is exactly how I feel . We've got good players that were better 11 games ago and trying to stop it will be like stopping a train . Good luck to Clement , I just feel he has quite a hill to climb .

I understand/been told that we lost out on Joe Allen after Huw decided to tell Liverpool that we would wait until the January window before re-signing Joe.........

If correct, major, major f**k up.

Hope he's not waiting until the end of the window to see if teams are desperate to offload and so buy on the cheap.......

That was my only worry from PC interview, I don't think we will be signing much early in the window as he wants time to assess as he says. I know he has to but I hope he doesn't take to long in doing so as we could miss out and then it will be our usual panic buying. I would like to think that along with training he will have been watching all our performances to get a handle of what is needed. I think after last night he will have sussed that we need a new LB in place of the snivelling pathetic excuse we have for one now.

We are looking to get Davie Selke ( right back ) on loan out of Germany , Andrea Ranocchia ( Central defender valued at about 9.5 million out of Italy and Jordan Ayew from Villa ( forward , 2nd striker and winger ) not sure about value
