Morning all, cold again but we did see a bit of the sun for an hour earlier. Just had a visit from a thick Frenchman who wanted me to join up with the FN. I pointed out to him that as I was English I would have no say in who would be the next President, and in any case Mme le Pen would not get any support from me. Having failed to extract any money from me for the fighting fund, he still insisted in giving me the literature just in case I changed my mind. More paper to light the fire with.

You should have told him that his candidate is losing ground in the polls to the guy who worshipped Thatcher. He might have left a bit quicker.

If Big Ears is right, and we have the same Medical Team over the 2017 Xmas period, I feel we will be in real trouble... (unless we go down this season anyway). :(

Morning, Dave; morning, all. :)
Back to work today. It'll be interesting to see how I'm treated since I handed my notice in before Christmas. I've got a firm feeling the daggers will be out for me - which is of course a Julius Caesar reference, not a Dagenham and Redbridge one. ;)

Good luck with that. I know of someone who handed in their notice in time to be out on Xmas eve to look after their ailing spouse (MND or MS, one or the other)... been at the firm over ten years... every year they got an Xmas bonus... even someone who'd not finished their probation period got £30... but not this person, oh no, just a card. Apparently it's not a "thank you" for the previous years efforts but an incentive for the following year...........:emoticon-0183-swear<steam>:emoticon-0172-mooni:emoticon-0173-middl:emoticon-0183-swear

Bloody hell fire - what can you say to that? Does that incentivise the current workforce as they find out? Does it make them feel valued? Dozy penny-pinching undermining the whole purpose. But who is surprised that there are many people leading who haven't got a clue how to incentivise their workforce?

There is a street light outside my bedroom window which is SW facing so I can see a dry road and moon and stars in a clear sky. <ok>
I have a strange tale of coincidence to tell over this.

Reading the post earlier this morning immediately put me in mind of a former flatmate in Oz. He worked for Australia Post in a little outback community near Mt.Isa in Queensland & every morning would open up shop at 5:00am. At 6:00am, he would receive a call from ABC Weather Service asking what the weather was like - and for the previous day's temperature readings. He would simply pop his head out of the window and tell them what he saw. Without fail, his words were reported verbatim on the ABC News at 7:00am - their 'expert' prediction service!

The coincidence part is that, about half an hour after reading this, I received an email from his wife telling me that he had died... :(
