    If anyone is interested.
    More to follow I suspect.
Watching from over here it makes me sick and embarrassed to think the place I was born has sunk to this new low.:embarrassed:

Watching England also makes me sick and embarrassed.

I think we've seen the peak of the riots but it's worrying that these kids now know how easy they can cause chaos and loot freely when they organise themselves in such numbers. There's certainly going to have to be a change in policing after this, otherwise it's always going to be likely to repeat itself.

Exactly. Big mistake, IMO. They've basically just allowed the lunatics to take over the asylum; and, more or less informed them that they can do it again any time they like.

I'm not sure what else could have been done though, there wasn't really much warning and the police didn't have time to react. It's lose/lose for the police, if they overpolice the protest and prepare for riots they get told they're overreacting and when they don't they're accused of being too soft. Everyone seems to have seen it coming but it's total rubbish, no one thought for a second that this could happen.

It's obviously difficult for the old bill. They're being hit with Guerrila tactics. Just as they think they know where the main point of trouble is, it changes. Or, is simultaneous. Entirely deliberate, I'm sure.
However, what I was trying to say is; giving in to these idiots; and letting them see just what they can "achieve" is not the right way to go.

From what I have read it seems to have been co-ordinated at all point N-S-E-W so that there was not enough riot police for each action.
Seen also that the game at Palace has also been called off.

Reaction to England's match against the Netherlands being cancelled:

"This is what happens when uneducated people get bored, lack of education leads to violence....protesting about nothing"

    @Joey7Barton on Twitter

    Really Joey?!

I can't help thinking that in any other European country, water cannons and maybe rubber bullets would have been used same day and blasted the little ****s into next week...we are too soft...National Service should cure their teeny aggression!

Glad that stupid friendly is off btw! <ok>

The fire trucks should be about already putting out fires. I wouldn't mind awfully if they aimed it at some rioters once in a while too. <ok>

I don't use Twitter. However, perhaps somebody who does should thank Joey for his penetrating insight into the underlying social problems in the U.K.

Actually, to be fair, Joey does have a partial point. However, what he says is far too generalistic. Most of these people are just horrible little ****s - and THAT'S where the violence comes from.

When Joey Barton's dispute with Newcastle started to turn nasty, he Tweeted this:
"In times of universal deceit, telling the truth will be a revolutionary act."
    George Orwell! <laugh>

I really don't know what to make of him any more.

I suppose one shouldn't criticise anybody for trying to better themselves. However, Barton's ramblings come across as Pseudo- intellectual twaddle. Somebody should point out to Joey that, admirable as it may be, to read more widely, it helps if you also try and understand what you are reading before you go quoting ad hoc passages in some bizarre, cryptic, messages to your "fans"

To be fair to him though NSIS, he does seem to have moved away from the drunken violence that plagued his earlier career.
He may be Tweeting a load of rubbish, but it's better than battering his teammates or burning some youth player's eyelid with a cigar, isn't it?
