I don't think I have ever read a comment on here about a great piece of wing play or a centre forward losing his marker to score a goal against you,

When peps Bayern played Klopps Dortmund he bypassed the Dortmund press and went long,as he did this season against Barca at home so it's not as straightforward as you'd think tactics wise,some think City will look to sit and soak but I'm not sure that's ever on our agenda,having Aguero back is a big plus as well,there's no way we will come and sit off to play on the break,that's highly unlikely. We will look to dominate possession so as Liverpool look to do the same it's really a difficult one to call
Our record at Anfield is wretched with just a few draws amongst many many defeats where you always felt Liverpool wanted it more,be very disappointed if I'm coming out of the ground on Saturday thinking the same again

I read about Pep going long in some games against Dortmund, I think the record between Klopp and Pep is 4 wins each.

I think it'll come down to who wants it more though more than any tactical reshuffle.

I sort of agree with you there, some of our players can do no wrong and others will be "useless" no matter how well they play. This is a big game for us but we have to look at where we are and kick on whether we win or lose, our ability to recover and go on another run of wins is ultimately what will define our season.

Win lose or draw, we'll still be in a great position heading into 2017. I'd have taken someone's arm off at the beginning of the season to be wherever we are on New Year's Day. [HASHTAG]#progress[/HASHTAG]

I don't think saying a defending player could or should've done better means that you aren't saying the attacking player did something good.

Every goal is preventable, even great goals like Gerrard Vs West Ham where he smashed it from 30-35 yards. There were two poor clearances leading up to the goal plus a West Ham midfielder misread the headed clearance leaving the ball to bounce out to Gerrard. I admit it would take the fun out of football for us to analyse every goal in a negative manner like this but its the truth and I'm sure all PL football clubs go over these things with video analysis after every game.

The reason we look at Liverpool players parts in conceding the goals rather than the opposition is because we are Liverpool fans, we have no interest in analysing Pieters' crossing ability or Walters' movement in the box. We are more interested in what our players did well/poorly than what the opposition are doing, because they are **** all to do with Liverpool.

Was about to say same thing. Obviously some of our goals are through bad defending (Lallanas one v Stoke) but we don't need to analyse it from a poor defending point of view instead rather focus on lfc and fact did well to ensure ha s bodies in the box to take advantage.

Same in defence, some goals are good attacking play, was good whipped in cross and powerful header from near post run.. but why do we care about that when it's the defending of our own team that is more important to us.

Stoke are really quite weak. If they concede they'll just crumble. Against an efficient and ruthless side like Chelsea they have very little chance.

The best hope that Chelsea can be slowed down is the top 6 giving them nothing. Not even draws.
 
Klopp: We'll be ready if Guardiola mixes it up

Past experience of coming up against Pep Guardiola means Jürgen Klopp is prepared for all tactical eventualities ahead of Manchester City’s visit to Anfield tomorrow evening.
Liverpool welcome City to L4 for their final game of 2016 with just a point separating the sides in the Premier League table.
The second-placed Reds and City, who sit third in the standings, are the division’s top two teams this season in terms of passes and average possession, and Guardiola’s reputation as a coach who prizes control of the ball above all else is something he has carried since his days with Barcelona.
But Liverpool boss Klopp, who competed with the Spaniard during their respective tenures at Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, is well aware of his opposite number’s willingness to mix his tactics up.
“Bayern changed their style of play against us a few times, not always, but a few times,” Klopp said.
“A clear philosophy does not mean that you stick to it in every moment. If you have to adapt to your opponent, then that is what we all do.
“The public view on it was that they were pretty direct, that’s true. Manuel Neuer is good with the ball so the first ball was long but after winning second ball they played football and didn’t shoot the second ball immediately in the same direction again.
“The style of the game isn’t everything. It is kind of important but in the end you only want to get your players looking forward with the ball. How you do it is not important.
“It is not about having 20 passes - if you have to play a long ball that is good and fighting for a second ball is good too. Then you want to have influence with the ball.
“It is not a big difference between the ideas but when you look from the outside there is an image that Pep is kind of possession and I am kind of counter-pressing.
“I don’t need names for things. We play the football we think that makes sense and Pep does the same with his team and his ideas. I never thought too much about the ideas of other managers - only until before the game when we played them.”

I kind of agree with you all, I just think that by not giving credit to the opposing attack you are in some way making your own players seem/sound worse than they are.
If you just accepted that they were done by a great cross or bit of movement you might see that it happens to all teams all the time.

We know it happens to others all the time, but what's so surprising about the fact that we care more for, and pay more attention to, our own team?
We discuss the pros and cons of our own team and try to see where they can improve - it's natural.

Do you think coaches look at a game afterwards and say to their teams "no comments, no criticism, no suggestions as to how to improve - you were just beaten by a better team. Carry on."
