I'd quite happily be Red Bull QPR for in return for some professional organisation. Doubtless there would be fans' opposition and EFL blocking of any name change though, because being trapped in a spiral of **** is better than compromising some witless principle.
**** that...
Not sure many Bolton fans would agree with all the doom and gloom on here having just won eight on the bounce. If (and still a very big if) we are relegated, we will no doubt have a comparably more enjoyable time winning some games in League 1 - and it's all about winning... whatever division we are in.
Did anyone here not enjoy promotion from League 2 more than staving off relegation from the Championship in 2009-10 or being relegated twice in 4 seasons from the PL?
The Premier League - and this is only my opinion - is a borefest... a procession of corporate sameness week after week that turns fans into 'witless' consumers and promotes short term gratification and unsustainable spending among smaller teams... the actual process of attaining promotion is great, but the 'reward' is a great big poisoned chalice of relentless misery.
The measure of success for teams outside the top 6 rarely means anything other 'consolidation' with the occasional ray of sunshine of a cup run.
Whether you aim for 17th or 21st, being a struggling team is indeed ****. But there is nearly always an upside if it does go tits up.
Your alternative is becoming a pawn in a massive corporate portfolio... just another financial speculators bubble waiting to burst... not for me thanks.
