Incredible player and he seems to be getting better as he gets older. His ability to control a ball first time is brilliant and he still has good acceleration. Rumours are coming in thick and fast about a move away in Jan to two different London clubs, surely you must keep this lad until at least the end of the season when you know your fate? I reckon he'll stay unless a top club go for him, for silly money. If you could bring in Batshuayi on loan and get £15m for him from Chelsea for example would that be a good deal? £6m is a no-brainer, surely the owner is not going to sell for that.
We go down without him. Simple as that. He won't be going anywhere this season. At the end of the season I could understand why he'd ask for a move away regardless of whether we stay up or go down. Trouble is, at his age he has zero market value when realistically he's invaluable to us. We need to pray he wants to stay.
Spot on tel. He's class! I was dubious when we signed him but am happy to be eating the humblest of humble pies!! He has 1 in 4 games where he doesn't play as well as he can, but he still looks likely to score!
You won't get much more than 6million for him given his age but the cost to replace him would be insane. From that stand point, you cannot sell him. I've always been a big fan of JD and was gutted when you got him. He's a big reason you've stayed up. If he goes, trouble is on the horizon
In the current climate at the club,I think that Short will sanction the sale if ANYONE comes in with a bid of more than £5 million.
When we were down 1-0, and he [Defoe] made that long run, with the ball, down the center of the pitch... I believed - even with three defenders closing in.
When I first started following the premier league, I watched Bale, Defoe and Lennon blitz attack their opponents week after week - with Dempsey just trying to keep up.
The rumour mill is fuelled by clubs in the mix with you perhaps. Wanting to unsettle the nearest thing you can get to guaranteed goals down that end. If Defoe's head is turned it could be curtains.
“No, a £6m bid for Jermain would not be even considered,” said Moyes as he prepared to take his side to face his former employers at Manchester United on Boxing Day. “I don’t think any price would buy Jermain – he’s priceless, his goals are so valuable to us. I wouldn’t even think about any offer. Without Jermain we’d be really struggling.”
Said it on the other thread. You can't put a price on his worth to us. If we sell we're waving the white flag.
See them? ^ Not the same as Short is it? Selling then running to hide behind Bain? It`s getting to the stage now where I really don`t trust the bloke.
