There's some truth in that, and hate never got anyone anywhere.

But there will come a time, if it has not already arrived, when a tolerant people will see that mass immigration has a darkly negative side. What worries me are politicians that cause Germany to lurch from one extreme to another.

Lurching from one extreme to another (or avoiding it) seems to be an issue for many countries at the moment. Some are succumbing, some are not. It generally doesn't help to switch so quickly - things creep in under the radar that don't get the scrutiny they deserve and would not be supported by the population if they were looked at properly.

Anyway, let's hope Germany can resolve its issues. Catching the murdering driver would be a start.

I hear the wanted man is not an immigrant at all, but someone who had been refused asylum but hadn't been deported due to no valid papers from his home country Tunisia. Too many people are being far too quick to attempt to justify their extremely uncompassionate political views on the flight from the bloodbath wreckage of Syria, whenever these sick tragedies happen in Europe.

Obviously with that statement you're no better than those labeling things quickly as being done by Islamist without any real evidence.

And what the heck has Trump got to do with this? Don't lump him in with that, just because you don't like him personally. Lets not forget that Obama was the one, with Hillary sitting next to him, that assassinated Osama Bin Laden while they watched the whole thing happen on TV back at home in DC while the Seal Team did their bit and cleaned up the mess that the Bushes left behind; all while Trump was trying to do business with the Saudis and others in the Middle East, business dealing which the Obama administration tried to squash, and Hillary would have done the same.

The papers only "seem" to omit things from you because you're blind and can't see past your hate.

You're clueless

Yet another strange and irrational statement. What's occurring here Yappy? I've just come across two posts from you targeting the same poster.

Not on this board they're not.

That's right.............

There's really no problem at all following Merkel's disastrous open border decision is there?

Whilst we remain in the grip of liberal, human rights obsessed real world problem deniers, nothing is going to change.

There arent many problems greater in our World than those experienced in Syria the last years, and any Country providing a haven for refugees from the bloody chaos and wreckage from chemical warfare, bombing and shooting there have my full support.

I rest my case.

I have no problem taking in genuine refugees from any crisis anywhere. But when those very same so called refugees plough lorries through innocent people at a Christmas market my sympathy and support starts to wane somewhat.

It's not refugees that are the problem, it's terrorists. It's not the promotion of human rights that is the problem, it's the denial of them by radical religions and extreme governments. When people start to conflate refugees - or immigrants in general - with terrorism, the terrorists are winning. IMO.

But a huge influx of uncontrolled refugees leads, unquestionably to more terrorism in this current climate.
To ignore this fact is to make things worse imo.

I've just read something in The Daily Mirror about the timeline for this. Assuming the person they're hunting really is the culprit, he entered Germany from Italy - where he had been for 3-4 years, serving a jail term for arson committed in Italy. Italy wanted to deport him. He had previously fled Tunisia, aged 17, before being tried and convicted in his absence for armed robbery. Germany also wanted to deport him but could not do so until Tunisia issued him with a passport. He had no criminal record in Germany, so no proven reason in German law to lock him up.

So, a convicted felon, sure, but not a refugee. He is recorded as entering Germany at least a month before Merkel made her decision about Syrian refugees.

I'm sure I read in one of the initial reports that he had been refused asylum status and the Germans wanted to deport him but couldn't because as you've said he has no papers.

I'm amazed there's anything to read in the Daily Mirror!

When Merkel took in 1 million, the checks on who was a genuine refugee and who were not were negligible. The checks are underway now but undesirables are already in the country. And surveillance and security are so poor in view of ultra liberal laws (that came about for historic reasons) which wrongdoers will exploit. German citizens are highly vulnerable now. Merkel has been criminally naive imo

I wouldn't be a huge fan of Merkel's open door policy. It was always the case that there would be some islamists that would slip through to Europe and cause terrorist attacks. I know the Austrians, Hungarians, Greeks, Croats, Serbians etc weren't too pleased with Merkel for encouraging the 1.5m or however many entered Europe. I really think the Western world has not handled the Syrian refugee/economic refugee situation very well. There are thousands of non-Syrians being picked up in the Mediterranean every day and being brought to the shores of Europe. There people are mainly from Sub-Saharan Africa, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and Bangladesh. If they are not war refugees from Syria, they should all be returned to North Africa or Turkey where they paid handsome sums to traffickers and refused entry to Europe. I am all for helping genuine war refugees but not the people who jump on the bandwagon and who are nothing more than economic refugees. Having said that, I admire the German people for accepting so many in good faith. I just wish they didn't have to suffer the consequences of terrorism in their country after they tried to help so many. I have the utmost respect for Germany for accepting so many at a time when the rest of the world did very little. I know Sweden and Canada made a big effort too. Thoughts with the families of those killed in these awful atrocities.
