He took legal action of some kind to leave us in January 2016 I believe. When he left he put out a tweet thanking his lawyers and wife and fans for their support. He went to York where he'd been on loan from us. They released him in May 2016. We loaned him to Peterborough in 2014 and he made 7 appearances for them and in 2015 we loaned him out to Colchester and Stevenage but he only made 1 appearance for each team. Either those teams didn't rate him once they had him on loan or her had injury problems. I don't know anything about him other than this but his statement when leaving us made him look a bit cocky at the time and very twat ish now imo.
Yes, he certainly left us with a chip on his shoulder and there was talk of legal action. There were rumours of a gobby woman dictating what he should do, but I have no idea how true this is. Whatever, it's one hell of a comedown for the player.
Genuinely hope he is a strong character or has support of good people or something like this could damage him. A year or so ago he was hoping for stardom after being at a Premier league club since he was 15 yrs old and now he's looking a being a regular guy playing Sunday league football and having to work. Like you said that's one hell of a come down!
I remember his statement at the time and slated him for it. Didn't think he would be as low as he is now though.
A thought to all you older fans. I became a life member of the Spurs Supporters Club in 1958 for 5 quid. Is this club still going?
I don't think ths is anything to do with the Spurs Supporters Club that was at Warmington House under Mr.Harris.
I was a member of the TL&R Club when it was next door to Burgess's. I was also a member of Tottenham Trades (played for them too.Football that is!) and the old Enterprise Club by South Tottenham Station. Oh those days of my youth.(What a way to spend one's youth!!!!) Thank God I got older and wiser.......!!!!!?
The Guardian's annual Christmas gift to comedy is out: their list of the 100 top players in the world for 2016. I think you could have the greatest collection of football experts and logicians and still end up with a list that would seem a little wonky. But it takes the Guardian to come up with one this bad. So much to choose from, but how about Ozil at 23 and Eriksen not listed despite them having produced the exact same number of goals + assists since Ozil got here. Eriksen has five goals and four assists so far this season, compared to Ozil's 5 and 2. I'm pretty sure Eriksen's ahead in the calendar year as well (the criteria is "best player in the world 2016"), but I can't dig up the stats. Must be Ozil's blood and thunder defending. please log in to view this image
If you think that's bad, you should read the Grauniad's Media 100, which would be laughable if it wasn't so insufferably wrong in its assertions. In other words I didn't get on it this year either - and when you see some of the dreck that does get on it...
RIP. He used to turn up at KFC and Domino's in South Croydon from time to time - maybe not the best move given his heart problems. He seemed to be a down to earth bloke on the occasions I came across him. On the occasion of his passing I was going to forgive him for the cover of Dion's 'The Wanderer' from about 35 years ago. However, I still can't. The worst cover version of all time, ever, by anyone, no dispute or argument. Ever.
It seems to have been his 'Last Christmas'. Sorry. He was 4 days younger than me. I wasn't a huge fan but was partial to the 'Listen Without Prejudice' album, particularly 'Praying For Time'. RIP. Somewhere a drug dealer is weeping and wondering how he'll cope without all that income next year.
Hasn't been a good year for singers/artists at all, has it? And they're getting younger. I guess the small comfort in losing Bowie, Prince, Cohen and now Michael is that we'll be rid of Justin Bieber soon enough.
