Just joined :) can't believe how fast the registration process was. Just in time for the race at Indy.

Still no idea what I'm doing, so this should be fun.

Don't know what I'm doing yet, and it's so tempting to spend, spend, spend :) I know that the instructiocns say not too, but when is a good time to spend? Test etc....

Anyway, I'm in Rookie 28 and I've done quilfing and I did a 44.989 in Q1, 47.778 in Q2 and I'm starting 24th (at the moment) for my first race. I take it that your starting place is a mix of Q1 and Q2?

Looks like a fun game, but it's alot to learn and I think most of it is trial and error.

well as we all joined half way through a season were just experimenting and learning for the next season. before the beginning of the season everything resets in rookie class and you get your money back. also a point: any driver over lvl85 I think will be removed from your team and you will have to find a new one unless you get promoted

Quick question about Sponsors, what do the bars mean? For example, if Expectations are just 1 bar, does that mean they expect good or bad results?

I started 21st/29 and for some reason after the first few laps I slipped down to 27th <doh> I am slowly fighting back though and I am currently 23rd.

I am up to 15th but quite a few people behind me have pitted. On a brighter note I just did the 4th fastest lap on that lap.

EDIT: Now up into 5th! But still have not pitted.

    Well done Bando. <applause>

My race was less successful, finished 17th. The only bright spark was that after inexplicably falling down to 27th by lap 3 I clawed my way up to 5th place at one point, but then I fell back down partly due to car trouble again. <grr>

Well doen Bando, a great effert there.

My race was better than expected. Mind you I expected to be nearly last. I started 27th (my lucky number), when down to 32 at the start, highest my driver got was 7th, and finished 11th. Overall I'm happy with that start. I put too much fuel in on my last stop, but I will learn.

How do you know trye wear, and fuel used etc? Is it all just trail and error, or is teher anywhere that tells you?

Welcome Montoya, we'll all learn together.

There is a track infomation tab that gives some details:

For example the next race is at Buenos Aires (Argentina):

    Race distance:306.6kms
    Laps:72
    Downforce:High
    Lap distance:4.258 kms
    Overtaking:Very hard
    Average speed:184.89 km/h
    Suspension rigidity:Hard
    Grand Prix Held:12
    Fuel consumption:Very low
    Number of corners:16
    Tyre wear:High
    Time in/out of pits:19.5s

Luckily I have raced here before and have a basic set up which I will try and improve this time round:

    FW: 900
    RW: 900
    E: 650
    B: 250
    G: 700
    S: 900
    (depending on driver preferance)
    Tyres: Hard
    Fuel: 3.7/lap (Very Low)

Thanks for the setup tips Bando, these really help us alot. How do you work out the fuel, is that just from past experience?

No idea if this helps but I decided to do some testing at Brazil (not sure if it's the same testing track for everyone), these are the figures that my driver like

    FW: 600
    RW: 650
    E: 450
    B: 725
    G: 800
    S: 800
    Tyres: Soft
    Fuel = 50 liters for 10 laps

And from another forum about testing, these are the testing points you can earn...

    Running 25 Laps with a Hairpin priority will give ~ 1.8 P, 1.8 H, 14.4 A.
    Running 20 Laps with a Cornering priority will give ~ 1.4 P, 11.5 H, 1.4 A.
    Running 10 Laps with a Overtake priority will give ~ 3.6 P, 1.8 H, 1.8 A.
    Running 10 Laps with a Setup priority will give ~ 0.1 P, 0.1 H, 0.1 A.
    Running 05 Laps with a Setup priority will give ~ 0.1 P, 0.1 H, 0.1 A.
    Running 20 Laps with a Test car limits priority will give ~ 0.4 P, 0.4 H, 0.4 A.

Thanks Al, Im not going to work on testing as they take 3 races for the results to filter through. And then they get wiped for the new season.

As for fuel Im keeping some data in a notepad file for all fuel classes (Very Low, Low, Medium, High, Very High).

    (Warning Math Alert)

So after the last race which was Very High.
I made 32 laps before my tires caved in and had 27% fuel left in the tank (<doh>) 27% of 180Litres is 48.6.

So with the 160 Liters I started with minus 48.6 (111.4) I divide that by the 32 laps I made = 3.5 (Rounded Up)

3.5L (Per Lap) / 4.022Km (Lap Length) = 0.87 Per Km <-- So hopefully this figure is the same for all 'Very High' Fuel Races

Please correct my Math if im wrong because im useless at it
